i think this list blows and you should stop posting tier lists forever

Amen. I believe in the TR4Q campaign. (tiers are for queers) ;P

First of all Tiers are based on very expirienced players who play in pro tournements, if your not a serious player you shouldn't even worry about them, but the game hasn't even been out for a month its tottaly impossible to think of a tier list. The list would directly refelct your expirence with the game which at this point is way lax. I have 100hrs+ at the game and I couldn't think of a tier list if I wanted to, the game just has too meny elements and characters to say- as of now-.

metaknight is incredibly fast, his jab, which hits on all sides, can go immediately into a downsmash, which is a good kill move and also goes on all sides

his up b is very strong as a kill move and is very fast

he has no lag upon landing a gliding attack

his dash attack allows him to go past the opponent, so he wont get shield grabbed

most of his moves have many hits and stay out for awhile, so it can be hard to sneak in an attack

if ur staying on the ground in this game u will not be a good player, this game was built for aerial battles and air attacks, sakurai even said so

it is possible to shuffle a fair and not get shield grabbed

hes hard to combo

Okay going through this thread I've seen MK way up on the tier lists and from everything I've seen from videos and just playing with him I put him middle at best. Now I realize theres a lot of morons on the board that are just spamming lists because theyre under the illusion that they are good but I've seen it so much I'm curious as to why. So, can someone please explain what I'm missing about his game that makes him so godly?

- Amazing recovery. I mean, he can fly AROUND New Pork City. That's awesome.
- Good combo moves that rack damage quickly (ftilt, fair, bair, uair, jabs, upsmash, Mach Tornado).
- Kills more quickly than you'd think, he might be a bit worse than others, but fsmash and Shuttle Loop can get it done. Dsmash too, which, again is terribly fast. And even if you miss Shuttle Loop - glide attack works and cancels upon landing.
- Fast as hell, great with pressuring.
- Decent priority and pretty good reach (neutrals hit behind him).
- Small target.
- Good spacing with fair and bair makes you not get shield grabbed.

Only bad points I see with him is that he doesn't have a projectile and that his specials (and one of his kill moves) make him go into FallSpecial. Otherwise, he's really great.

I havent seen Ike in the list which I noticed which anyone can pick up and win with apparently. Lucas is by no means bottom-tier. His PK fire is decent at annoying mid-rangers. PK thunder used on himself is devestating. In addition his combo attacks and his snake grab makes him a solid character.

I think Wario is higher up on the list than most people believe.
We'll see when someone releases an Official Brawl Tier List, considering we need lots of tournaments and input from ACTUAL PROs (Not these self-proclaimed pros that seem to be popping up more and more each day).

LOL I'm guessing you've never actually fought somebody with luigi, or else you'd know how to use his missile and tornado properly

As a long-time Link/Young Link player, throughout Melee I must say the disparity between the two Links in Brawl distresses me. In other words, Toon Link is very, very good and Link is quite bad. In Melee, neither of them were that good, but neither were horrible either...so it was easy to switch between the two and learn to be very competitive with both. Link is very unfortunately nearly unplayable for me in Brawl...if he were fun for me I wouldn't care if he was"bad", but I find him too clunky and awkward compared to his smaller counterpart to really enjoy him.

I'm not going to make my own list, because there are too many characters that I don't have enough experience with. (I also don't really care for tier lists period but that's another story entirely.) However, I feel that TL is probably going to be viewed as less godly once people learn to exploit his few weaknesses (yes, I admit that they are few.) I may be biased though, because I don't want everyone and their mother flocking to play Toon Link based on that he's "OMG AWESOME."

I also think Pikachu is being vastly underrated by many people. I played him a lot in Melee, and he is much more competitive in Brawl; same goes for Zelda and G+W. They happen to be characters I am playing now, but they're ones I had quite a bit of experience with in Melee too (except for Zelda, but I was pretty familiar with what she could do.)

Ganondorf - Probably bottom tier,or bottom of the low tier
Wario - Middle tier, people just loooooooove to underestimate his unique playstyle.
Sonic - Slightly higher part of the middle tier maybe? Im not sure here, but his lack of KO power really hurts him

I know a kid who operates very well with ROB, he's good at chasing, he's strong and has an awesome recovery, and has some fast, annoying moves. ROB will definitely be high tier at least.

If it takes more skill than other characters to be good with a given character, that means the character isn't as innately good as the others, thus, lower in tier. That's part of what tier is, how hard it is to be effective with said character against the rest of the cast, that's what made Sheik high tier in melee, she was really easy to be good with.

though I haven't compiled my own tier list yet (as I think it is impossible to have played even close to enough of the characters in depth to make one), it really bothers me when someone makes a tier list and asks for feedback, then people will respond with things like, "You almost got it right. Here's how it should be, olimar is high, marth is top, falco is high, yoshi is low... etc." If you are going to tell someone there tier list is wrong at least explain your thinking behind the changes you would make. On page 106 I made case for falco being top tier. If you think a change should made to someone's list at least give an explanation as to why, just like my explanation for why I think falco should be top tier. Otherwise your feedback is somewhat useless to that person and probably to the rest of us too.

This is just Top tier, based off tournament placements and general opinions in the Midwest. I didn't go beyond Top tier because there's too much unknown about the characters. Brawl is just a camp-fest right now (at least in the MW, don't know about other places) so there may be changes in the near future.

The tier list is compiled with respect to two skilled players playing at peak performance. The tier list doesn't take difficultly of play into account because no matter how difficult a technique is, there will be a player who masters it and uses it effectively in time. The tier list takes into account what is possible for each character to do, regardless of how difficult it is.

MK has a better recovery then pit, pits recovery is fragile hitting it will make him helpless on doing the recovery until he hits ground.

This man has got it. All you morons posting lists with Gannon on top or saying that certain characters (besides sonic/gannon/falcon) suck are all fools. I've played 1000+ vs matches and the only thing i could ascertain was who was unusable at tournament level. Right now I say every character besides gannon and cpt. falcon have potential, some more than others, but every character seems to be pretty balanced if used correctly. Everyone posting has a really REALLY narrow view considering that no one has mastered every character already. I'm all for people ranting about tiers and what not but dont be dumb and back up your statements.

Top characters:
Marth: Not as fast, but has better Knockback, U-Smash has better range, good killer and he still has mad combo and edgeguarding skills and a 1 hit KO FS to boot.
Toon Link: Whups Link in almost every category except size and has a sick spike. B-air is great.
Sonic: Really fast, Great char. not much left 2 say.

Mid Characters:
Olimar: Master camper. Too dependant on Pikmin to be high tier.
G&W: Didn't expect this. Great combo ablilty and a lot of better changes from Melee. Great Kill potential.
Meta Knight: Has good combo ability but lacks killing moves. FS kinda sucks.
Ike: Powerful but waaaaaaay too slow.

Low Characters:
Ganondorf: See Ike. Big. Easy target.
Ice Climbers: Weak when separated. Only thing that shines is their recovery, but oops...there goes nana. FS is easily dodgeable.

I know I didn't put everybody.
Peach, Shiek, Falco and Fox got nerfed, the princesses the most.

Okay look, no one in the world wanted to main sonic more than me, but hes not a usable char at tourney level. Yea hes fast and....fast....and uh thats it...hes annoying at best with zero kill potential and light as jigglypuff. Your options are so limited and so predictable considering most of your moves begin with some distance between you and your opponent. The thing about sonic that takes the cake is how SLOW his attacks are...he runs fast...but almost all of his moves come out REALLY slow. All an opponent has to do is get you to 50-70% side step one of your predictable attacks, smash and you die. You have to get them to 120-200% to kill.

Sonic is not top tier in any way.
