IT WORKSS!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

If you follow the tutorial correctly, by setting up the static ip address on your wii and applying that ip to the ports your forwarding, it should work. I tested it out on anyone brawl and was already starting a match 20 seconds later.

Basically the tutorial is to set your Wii default (NAT 3) to Nat 2. Nat 2 is the best for wireless connection.

ALSO, for people who bought the lan adapter, it does help, but its a waste of money when you can just do NAT2 because WIRED connections use NAT 1

Wireless connections use both NAT 2 and NAT 3, but NAT 2 is better for Wireless

Once again, thank you very much for this tutorial.

I may sound like a total idiot, but how exactly can I change the channel on my router? It's a Linksys WRT54G.

I also might be able to change the Wii from a NAT3 to a NAT2 if I knew exactly what was going on.

I can't even access that page. I have a DL-524 and neither of the codes he supplied work, so I was using one from a website. None of them worked :'(

Be careful guys - this tutorial is asking you to open ports and change network settings. This could destabilize your network or internet connection. Follow this tutorial at your own risk, and as always, write down your router's settings before you change them so you can switch it back if bad things start happening.

To get to your router:

From a computer connected to the internet, go to run and type in 'cmd' (don't type the quotes, obviously).

From there, type 'ipconfig'

Where it says 'Default gateway", thats your router address. Type that into Firefox or IE, and thats how you get to router options. Make sure you know the router password and admin name.

I've got a D-link, but I have no idea wtf the user/pass is!
Look up the default settings on the D-Link website, that should help you out. Also, restoring the router to factory settings will default everything.

so this is why i can't do "with anyone" brawls.
any info on wired links?
does it matter what kind of USB wired connector i use?
ummmm.....
what? i'm pretty sure this thread is still too full of jargon for most people under "lower god".
i understand (sort of) what you're doing with the router...
but how do you change your wii to nat 2/nat1?

D-Link's default (with the newer interfaces) is typically no password and username of "admin"

I made a static IP.

I put in 192.168.0.146 because my computer is at 192.168.0.136, I have set up a static connection before. I put in everything else correctly. Subnet is at 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1. The connection works.

I forwarded the ports on my D-Link WBR2310. I tried both virtual server and port forwarding settings separately. I've forwarded ports for many programs, they always work.

I've tried other static IPs. I've set it to 192.168.0.140, what my fifth computer would be if I didn't set up a static IP before. I've set it to *.104, which is the Wii's default on my network. I've forwarded the ports accordingly

But still, I barely get ANYONE when I try to get a game going, and the lag is still there. I get maybe one person if I'm lucky and I probably get near a half a second or a whole second of lag.

This is unreasonable. I do not understand what is going wrong here.

EDIT: I also have WEP-TKIP encryption going. That is also all set up right. If anyone knows why that may be a problem, please say so.

EDIT 2: I set my Wii's current static IP up as a DMZ (192.168.0.146). The problem persists. This means that ports are not my problem. Maybe even with a static IP and everything manually configured it is not registering as NAT2? Is there something else I have to do?

Guys I REALLY need your help hopfuly I can find the answer here in this thread, if not, I might have to make my own thread, but anyways.

TWO MAIN PROBLEMS:

1. Before when I tried to play online, I had a lot of problems trying to connect to other players, and often would disconnect me from Nintendo Wi-Fi whenever it would be seeking players (In the practice room).

2. Weather I was playing with a friend or with anyone, it would be VERY laggy... laggy as in my screen would freeze up a lot and is not playable whatsoever.... I would be MORE then happy if it was just delay lag.

After I did what that gameFAQs thread said to do, problem number one was fixed! I was able to connect to other players no problem, however, problem number two would remain (Even when brawling with friends via FC).

Now this is something funny I noticed with problem 2, everytime I stood still and didn't press anything on my controller during a match, there would be ZERO lag. Whenever I would resume playing, it would be Very choppy/laggy.

Does this happen with anyone else? Does anyone know if this is my Internet and if so, have any suggestions?

This would be much appriciated guys, thanks a bunch. SSBB's online feature was the selling point for me, and I would be DEEPLY disapointed if I can't get this to work properly... Please help me! Thanks a bunch everyone!

UDP ports

I can't open all the UDP ports at once without knowing the port numbers. Can someone tell me what the range is for UDP ports?

yes i've seen this thread and i did the instructions, it somewhat helped.. another help might to to change your router channel to 1 or 11, since 6 is too commonly used, but i ended up DMZing ports to the wii so all the ports were open to it and idk if that was a good idea or not, i'm gonna test both dmz and just port forwarding the certain ports.

UPDATE: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineFirewall.jsp

read this for ports to forward
