Powershielding attacks by quickly tapping and releasing R is going to be big in Brawl. If the timing isn't nearly impossible to do consistantly (1 frame, 2 frames debatable) you will see this be used HEAVILY. Powershielding in Melee was a novelty. Powershielding is Brawl consistantly lets you punish offensive play.

Need I remind people, techniques like this deffinately will seperate the "casuals" from the "hardcore." No one who playes melee casually has a hope in high hell of consistantly powershielding. Casual gamers have bad timing. People who dont practice, dont win.

In Melee, the window was 4 frames, but the additional knockback was downright counterproductive. I'm glad it will actually be useful now.

So wait, does this not reflect projectiles any more? The Dojo description and video only deal with physical attacks. If they took out the projectile-reflecting aspect I will dance in the streets.

I like the SF3 analogy, except you can parry in the air, and you can't shield in the air in brawl. Luckily, we have the new floatier physics and multiple airdodges, so it may work out after all. Powershielding was actually something that could be done in melee: falco's lasers, fox's dair and falling uair, marth's forward smash, etc, were all pretty feasible imo, so if it's easier in brawl, it should become commonly used. The lack of projectile reflection makes me sad though. At pound 3 in crews, HugS shot vidjo with a full charge shot, and then vidjo powershielded it back into HugS, who then powershielded it back into vidjo. It was awesome.

I don't think it reflects projectiles anymore, but why would you consider that a good thing?

You can reflect projectiles but the timing is even harder. I've powershielded projectiles several times without them reflecting, but one out of every 5 or so end up reflecting. It may have something to do with spacing as well.
