Pokemon Stadium 2: What's your opinion? ~

Simple as that. The first time I played this stage, I found it a little distracting with the conveyer belts and the high wind, so I took it off of the random button in order to refrain from dealing with it. Earlier yesterday though, I played it, and everything was fine actually. I had a good solid match, despite the stage changes during the battle, and it made me think. What is actually so hazardous on PS2 that it needs to be neglected?

So that brought me here. I want to know what you guys think about this stage for a tournament setting. I mean, if people can be disputing the Ice Climbers stage (I can't recall the name, it's 1:00 AM right now), there HAS to be some people who like the idea of this being at least a counter pick.

Discuss.

Pure gayness, the different elements that just screw your whole strategy or change the tide of the battle in 10seconds is just stupid. If you don't care about the outcome of the game, its a fine level, but tournament / real 1v1 duel wise, it sux .

PS2 is great i think, the neutral part of course is amazing, and unlike PS1 the edges are not all messed up for recovery or stalling.

however the stage changes are even... BETTER! yeah i like them alot, you have the belts of doom which always end up leading to someone getting edgeguarded in some rediculous situation, the ice that just makes some things more silly than they ought to be, the mountain part... is a wall which always leads to something crazy in smash games, and the air part which in some respects could totally ruin a match, but if you understand how the air works it actually changes the match for the better. its not random like spear pillar you know what is coming and if you play it more than ten times you might end up liking it.

i didn't like it for a long time, but i had to play it because PS1 edges suck!

I think the obstacles like the conveyer belt is ridculious and the ice to.but it also looks like the pokemon stadium in melee just the background is different a little.

well i like it, but they should have stopped at pokemon stadium 2. The continued series just annoys me for some reason.

I can see this stage being a good counter pick for aerial characters like Marth and Jigglypuff. The conveyer belts won't bother them as much since they will be in the air with Fairs, Nairs and Bairs most of the time, and ditto goes for the ice as well, since they will be less likely to trip. There are also different strategies involved on the ice platform, such as sliding smashes which I think are nifty.

Pokemon Stadium 2 is a great stage. There are no true hazards on the stage, or at least not enought to effect competitive play. Either way this stage probably will end up as counter pick though, but it shouldn't be banned. If you miss this stage then just play on the original stage, which should be legal like in melee.

I like the original Pokemon Stadium stage better than the new one. I hate the stage transformation where you float in the air forever, as well as the conveyor belts. I play the Melee Pokemon Stadium much more than the new Brawl one.

I agree Raider, flying in mid-air brings less skill into game play. Pokemon stadium 2 shouldnt even be a tournament stage... people will die from the conveyer belts and other distractions. Pokemon stadium is way better than the second one. This stage needs to be a counter pick!

I prefer Stadium 2 to the Melee version because the transformations are more than "Oh hai, here are some platforms in a random arrangement." (EDIT for disclaimer and for those with broken sarcasm detectors: I know that Stadium 1's transformations have non-random platform layouts.) With that said, the Electric stage could use an extra platform over the right conveyor belt, if only for symmetry and more stable ground, and the belts themselves could move a bit slower. The Flying stage is fine imo, but my mains/secondaries all have good aerials, so I'm slightly biased. Ice actually doesn't come up often in my game, but I've never had any huge issues with it. I believe the very edges are still "normal" ground, fwiw. And Ground is just meh imo, although it's still a huge improvement from the Rock version in Melee.

No way Stadium 2 should be banned, though it'll more than likely be counterpick due to the way 3/4 of the transformations alter the basics of a fight.

No, just no; nearly all the hazards can be bipassed by characters with a good air game and both the ice and the conveyer belts completley screw over charecters like Ike

I think it is a unique stage, I mean yes there are a lot of similarities with the first pokemon stadium, but it could make a great tournament. Although the treadmills provide for cheap kills often times, and the wind stage gets a little annoying, each stage has qualities like this and those that really despise this stage either have a grudge on the pokemon series or are biased because their mains just can't seem to win on it >.< and thats their problem.

The floaty stage form is great for an aerial-only fight, especially while goofing around.

It would be sweet if you could choose in what stage of PS-2 to fight with for the whole match.

it sucks. the elements they chose, with the exception of ground, totally alter the level and cause difficulty for the players involved.

pokemon stadium 1 had it right - change the terrain, not the hazards, not the gravity. honestly, it makes me sad to see nintendo digress in the way it has with many of these levels. hanenbow? really, sakurai? really?

I don't consider PS-2 to be THAT KIND of level. I know Hanenbow is the WTF stage, but PS2 doesn't get even close.

I personally like PS2. Some of the elements didn't need to be there like wind, but it keeps me on my toes. I think Hanenbow is just crap. It's mainly, if not, only platforms. i thought that i could jump on the branches, but apparently the branches are a lie.

All in all, its a fun stage. The conveyor belts are somewhat annoying but that's really the only transformation I have a problem with. The wind transformation is interesting to experiment with especially with the really heavy characters. The "earth" version I enjoy (Diglett and Cubone, yay for old school) but I don't care for the giant mound of earth stuck in the middle. The ice is my personal favorite.

I personally love PS2. The air part is my favorite, although I know it's messed up. In non-competitive environments, it's a fun stage to play, especially as a character with a good air game.

This. I always screw up with the ice, wind and conveyor belts. Overall decent stage. PS1 is better IMO, but I hate the windmill! Wasted too much time trying to kill someone because they bounce back from the windmill. Melee's is better.:pimp:

I love Pokemon Stadium 2, since I never really found the stage crippling. Course, I am the player that loves playing on Spear Pillar too, so maybe that's just me. :p

The branches gave you problems? Heh. I should try and count up how many deaths I had because of that "WATER"... >_<;

Pokemon Stadium 2 isn't all that too bad. The conveyor belts, ice, and wind are a bit of a problem. It is a fun stage for the most part, I doubt this stage will be banned most likely a counter pick. The hazards on the stage aren't that bad.

Very let down with the new Pokemon Stadium.

It's a total buzz kill. The obstacles are complete battle distractions to the max, and they really didn't spice the new one up looks wise at all. It's pretty much the same looking lvl as the last one, with a more crisp look.

The Blue-Ray Pokemon Stadium.

Poke Stadium was in my top three with SSBM. It no longer holds that title.

Tourney wise, maybe counter pick, but it's a great stage, because it changes but is still pretty fair.

I hate when the stage changes to conveyor mode... I mean, if you try to edgegrab it is difficult to come back to the stage, the conveyors keep getting you into the edge, there's only one way to come back if you are grabbing the edge and thus really predicible, even if there are other ways to come back only jumping from the edge is possible since:
When rolling it almost always gets you to the edge again
When trying to just get up, I'D SWEAR that your character would just be better still grabbing the edge.
Down+jump? oh man... not so good idea...

I hate conveyor mode, but the other modes are ok for me:
Air, you can have an air battle which is really fun
Earth, not so boring stage
Ice, doesn't matter as long as you try to air-combo (which is almost a MUST in brawl) and some weird moves on the ice (I love my "Dashing Spin Attack")

I hate PS2. I think they they did a terrible job with it. First of all, the places it changes to suck. I like the ground one, but hate the other three. The air stage is okay, the ice one is just annoying, and don't even get me started with the conveyor belt mode... Also, why didn't they change the main part of PS2? They kept the same design as the first PS, which gives the stage no originality.

The old Pokemon Stadiums rocks, and PS2 sucks.

I dislike this stage a lot also. It's interesting at first, but then it just gets annoying and gay.

d-___-b Ugh... I see that Stage more viable for CounterPicks, since I don't see anything that would make the stage unplayable...

I find it to be a little uncomfortable to play on it... Still in a tournamet I might Choose it as a CounterPick...

The only thing that bothers me on that stage are the conveyor belts... Just an issue to get used to XP.... I might Play it more frequently...
