There hasn't been much mention of this, but I wanted to bring it up.

It seems like a few characters have attacks that don't actually do damage, but rather "push" the opponent away. Such as:

Mario's F.L.U.D.D.
Squirtle's Watergun
Link's Boomerang
possibly Falco's Reflector (not sure)

And I know some of you think these moves are useless... they're not! They are just rarely useful. The idea here is that after your opponent has Up+B'd and is falling proned, you can push them so they can grab the ledge, and because they haven't taken damage, they cannot recover. I've ruined a few Ikes by this, as well as Ness and Lucas. Also, on stages where there are no pits/edges you can easily push a player off screen for a nice KO.

I doubt it will become too big, but I do think you'll see more and more of it as time goes by.

Thoughts?

Falco's reflecter doe not push things. It trips most of the time from my exp, but it sometimes just hits them back a little. They regain their up+B
As for the watergun moves, they can be interesting edgeguards. I have gimped a few of my friends that way and it's rather amusing. Links boomerng only pulls things, it would still give them back ther up+B if it hit them on the way out.

The water squirt moves are decent for edgeguarding.

Link's boomerang does damage in about the first half of the length of the throw, after wards it just pushes(or pulls if it coming back)

Falco's reflector does damage, has a little knockback, and sometimes trips when on the ground. It does not have the water push effect at all.

Ness' Magnet has a slight push when deactivated. Very small effect, but it'll find its way into players games soon enough.

I think some of you might want to watch this video:

Those "push moves" are extremly useful if crates are on.
Also It's best at being Edgeguarding(Pumps F.L.U.D.D to max, knocks fox far enough to have to use Up B, Uses Fludd, Fox didn't travel anywhere, falls to death)
Woah that's crazy... now I'm going to try and convince my friends to play with crates :chuckle:

Like most characters with the ability to store projectiles, it's always helpful to keep the push moves stored up, if for no other reason than to mix things up every now and again.
And yes, as said before, they can be helpful for edge guarding

Mr Game and Watch's up-air also has a push effect, just upwards, not sideways. I use it to slow down falling attacks and to just screw with the opponent.

Maybe Link's could be useful when Link is about to die and uses the boomerang to pull them back away from the ledge, so they die with you!

the squirtles water gun has SOME damage, when you are like really close, face to face, it will hit.

That's only if you release it right away. You pretty much double-tap b, and instead of shooting a stream of water you shoot bursts in front of you. It's pretty short ranged and lacking in knockback.
