Questions about sh uair

1. Is a fast fall needed to perform it?
2. If not, is it still better to fast fall it?
3. If either is yes, how do you do it? Press up then down then up again for the arial?

Lastly, what types of situations is this good for? I feel like it gets beat out a lot because of the necessary pause after the initial short hop.

Like the pause after the sh, but before the uair. But thanks that does help a lot. Sorry about posting on the wrong spot!

yeah, BigLord basically covered it. A few things to add: it's good in many many situations. It's primarily a combo starter, but can also be used while retreating (you have to do that with the cstick) as a spacing tool. Make sure you're setting c-stick to attack in order to avoid the momentum problems associated with cstick aerials in sm4sh. Also, practice grounded uairs on pikachu, as he's the hardest to do them on. So if you get the timing for pikachu down, then you'll be fine doing it on the rest of the cast and even a lot of crouching/prone characters.

I actually haven't done that yet and haven't gotten any sort of problems related to momentum. Don't forget to only flick the c-stick, not hold it.

Just saying that it's not necessary.

I didn't have the momentum problems, but I found that setting the c-stick to attack was still really helpful, as I have difficulty performing tilts with the left stick, and the c-stick works perfectly for tilts.

A little off topic, but just my take on the subject the thread was kind of migrating to :)

Yeah, true, you can definitely work around it by just flicking the cstick. I just went ahead and set cstick to attack for good measure.
