I agree, and like I said I doubt we would ever get a non Japanese third party character.

Well, Miyamoto and Michel Ancel (the creator of Rayman) have a bit of history together, I could kind of see a Snake situation except instead of Kojima asking Sakurai to put in Snake, Ancel asks Miyamoto to ask Sakurai to put in Rayman.

There's also the fact that Ubisoft is one of the only devs making games for the Wii U, even if Legends went multiplatform. If UbiSoft ever got the chance to get one of their characters in Smash, it'd probably be their mascot.

Yay. AW deserves some love and Smash-induced popularity (though obv there are more reasons than that). And Andy could be pretty interesting.

I'm hoping Mach Rider makes it in; he would bring something fairly new and unique to the roster. That being said, I privately did an analysis of what characters I thought were likely, and he (just barely) missed the cut. My roster makes me sad though. I'd also greatly enjoy seeing the duck hunt dog (+ Zapper?), I think it would be an awesome retro WTF character a la Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B.

I'm curious as to how people have come up with the number of characters in this game? What metric are people using?

Good idea.
Sheriff makes a little more sense imo, but I was playing WarioWare and Wild Gunman was featured in one of 9-Volt's games, which reminded me about him.

Most of the threads I make, I think that character would be cool and fun, though they usually don't have any chance.
Wart however, would actually have somewhat of a chance for a Smash game (most likely not SSB4 though).
Especially if he is revived through MarioKart (WHICH HE BETTER BE!!!! ALONG WITH FAWFUL!!!!)

Duck Hunt Dog, more for comedic value than anything. I think he's also slightly more iconic, but that matters less to me.

That's my opinion, primarily because Sheriff's in-game look is too crude, and Wild Gunman is a game I played a lot when I was young. I have no attachment whatsoever with Sheriff.

I apologize, for I am not well-versed in the potential of Mach Rider. What does he offer that is enticing? I hear a lot of people talking about him.
