
Super Smash Brothers for the Wii U and 3DS were recognized for their excellence at the Japan Game Awards today. Japan Game Awards 2015 is organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) and is held annually. The new entries in the Smash series brought home three awards. Both the 3DS and the Wii U versions were given awards for excellence, while combined Smash Brothers for Wii U and 3DS received the 'Global Award Japanese Project'. This award was given due to "the overwhelming support from the user...in overseas markets"

The Minister of Trade and Economy also recognized Masahiro Sakurai for his contributions to the gaming industry today. The award was decided on by a vote, and was handed to Sakurai by the cabinet minister himself. Sakurai later tweeted the picture of the awards and his cat Fukura. In these tweets, Sakurai thanked everyone for their support in the voting process.
