Team OXY is proud to be partnering with Super Arcade to bring a hot new training ground for the Southern California Smash scene. With the standard set by the Wednesday Night Fights and The Runback series, Super Arcade is the prime location for Socal smash to expand!

-a large local venue which can fit 100+ players and spectators
-ample tables and chairs for casual and tournament play
-outdoor and indoor spectating environment
-arcade cabinets for when you need to take your mind off smash
-adjacent to many local restaurants; situated in a prime shopping center in the heart of Socal
-concession stand for drinks and snacks
-free and easy parking right outside the venue
-stream and production quality unmatched by any other local tournament venue

The outdoor viewing area: there are multiple TVs which are fed video straight from the live stream.

June 1st, and June 15th are the next Melee SSSes. Project M is run on the other weeks.

12:00 pm - venue opens
1:00 pm - teams starts
3:00 pm - singles starts (pools + bracket)
10:00 pm - venue closes

- cost -

Venue fee: $5
Melee Singles: $5
Melee Doubles: $5 per teammate

- prizes -

1st: 60%
2nd: 30%
3rd: 10%

- ruleset -

EVO ruleset:
  • Game Settings: 4 Stock, 8 Minute Time Limit, No Items, Pause Disabled
  • Starter stages: Yoshi’s Story, Fountain of Dreams, Final Destination, Battlefield, Dream Land.
  • Counter-pick Stages: Pokémon Stadium.
  • Wobbling is legal. Freezing and infinite stalling are not legal.
  • First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
  • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
  • Following stages decided by winner banning one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
  • Any matches that are best of five, there are no stage bans.
  • You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.
If there are further rules disputes, the analogous, but more detailed, Team OXY official ruleset will be used.

  • The facebook event is coming soon. I'll post it in the OP when I have it available
  • Article on levelup-series.com. You can check there for local FGC news as well.
  • If we get good attendance at this one, there is a chance we can make this a more frequent arrangement! Potentially a new era of Socal Smash!

and bosco, have you even looked at a map to see where i live vs where the tourney is???

also stop being a lazy *****. i had to drive 1 1/2 hours when i started smash to go to tournies in norcal

This is only 5 minutes away from me. Count Bizzarroflame, GB, and DTR going to this one. I'm so excited to see a melee tourney so close to home.

I'm going to be visiting LA that weekend, so If I can get my uncle to take me then I will definitely be there.
If I can go, be prepared to be approached for gratuitous amounts of Friendlies

I hate to be a bother but can I get a ride from somebody if my uncle cant take me(I will pay gas money)?
I've only been playing for like 2 months and am prepared to get whooped but I really want to get better by playing some of the best

I've been having some back pain and ain't to sure I can handle the drive. If u got license but no car, I can let u drive. So anyone relatively close? Like even 30 min away

Dude that blows...you should see whats causing the pain/treat it right away.


I've been going to tournies for two years now with constant pain; you better take care of it before its too late my friend.

anyone also play marvel? ima bring my copy of umvc3 if there happens to be a free 360 setup there for anyone who may want to get on that a bit as well. stoked about this tourney, gonna be way to good to see a lot of people i havent seen for a long time :)
