I am a noob at Smash Bros. Brawl is the first game in the series I've played. I totally admit it.

As far as I can tell, here are some signs I'm a noob:

-I have no plan. I run around doing moves randomly. There are a few attacks it feels fun to do, and I try to do them all the time, even though it may not be the best thing for that situation.
-If it works, I do it 15 more times in a row.
-I dodge and shield sporadically, when I remember too.
-I am compelled to keep trying to do slow, powerful attacks, even though I only hit someone with them 1 in 5 times. The rest of the time I get hit or miss. That just makes me want to try harder.
-I have a hard time keeping all of a character's moves in my brain at once. One match I'll totally forget to use a > + Special attack, the next I'll forget about something else.
-I love using smash attacks, in every situation.
-I don't quite understand the concept of using fast attacks to soften someone up before smashing them. It's smash attack time all the time.
-I have no idea how much damage a move does. I just do whatever looks strong.
-I only have a vague awareness of what direction attacks send opponents in. As long as they go flying I feel like I've accomplished something, even if they can recover easily.
-I frequently screw up my Up + Special moves and overshoot falling opponents, that or I forget to jump and do them on the ground by mistake.
-What's air dodging?
-I keep reading how throwing is important, but I don't get what the fuss is about
-I'm vaguely scared of the edge of the stage. I'm very reluctant to follow an opponent out over empty space to try and finish them off.
-I hardly ever attack in the air, except for Up + Special

Add your own.

After I kill someone, I always use my taunt, even if its near a spawn point. I always get killed because of this. Taunting FTW.

Best thread ever. How about some character specifics.

Link/Toon Link: You caught someone off gaurd with your dair once. Now your mission for the rest of the match is to do it again.

Pikachu: Jump, down b, jump, down b, jump down b. Repeat until opponent or yourself are dead or until you discover he has 15 other moves.
The same strategy applies to Kirby. Possibly other characters that look too intimidating to use.

you know your a n00b when
you wall jump and you think its cool
you die because you hit up a instead of up b
you dont know what tether recovery is
you dont know what diddys side be and zss down b are for
winning means that you survived the match
you fully charge up every attack you use
you think the c-stick was the easiest way to play (smashes)
shield grabbing confuses you
your character is all of the worst titles in your smash data

I always jump up and do Dair with Toon Link or Down Special with Kirby...
And I don't use smashes often, even if I try, its mostly a side A...

- I KNOW that Jigglypuff's Bv restores health. But it only happens 1/8 of the times it is used.
- I say that tripping is a cheap tactic.
- Recover? WhatTF does that mean?

After a brawl, the result I get is a total surprise.

If I get first place, I go "Oh! Wow! Neato!"

If I get last place, I swear I was doing better. Yeah, I accidentally fell off the stage three times, but I was sure that other guy was doing worse than me...

-Throw explosives too close to opponents and hurt yourself too.

-Constantly kill yourself with items: Smart bombs, bumpers, exploding crates, bomb-ombs.

-Horrible at aiming air attacks to hit the smash ball

-Keep forgetting that once you use Up + Special, you can't jump any more. Die as a result.

-If caught in a pile of people, frantically mash buttons and hope you come out on top, instead of rolling away.

-You love the weak 'hold A' combos that do tons of hits, because they feel so bad ***.

Not really, many old Melee techniques revolved soully around this theory, lol. (*Cough* Fox *Cough*)

Also
-You openly brag about skills you don't have at the game.
-You constantly blame the controls or some other source for your death.

your also a noob when you ask questions a n00b would ask. o_0 lol

zss's vB is used for a lot of things, its takes part in her massive recovery and if you hit vB after hitting once in air its an attack, but a lot of people go what the hell? and never use it because they don't mess around or experiment and come here for all of their information, which, isn't such a great idea.

that or meta knights vB too. (primeraly using it just to dodge)

Sign that you're a pro:

You use Game&Watch's bell taunt, yell "DINNER TIME!" and proceed to flip sausages like a madman until threatened by another player.

Or maybe that's just me when I get him for a random pick...

"Dude, what's that stance that Link does in one of his taunts? The one where he stands on one leg and raises his sword. I've NEVER seen that before!"
