Wait you guys use X to jump?
I always confused the two and thought they were the other.
I just Y simply due to it being there.
Your thumb would be around all 3 of the buttons that you need.
B A and Y.
And am I the only one who uses C-Stick for Dairs?

I use X to jump even though most people use Y, X is just more comfortable for me.

I use the c stick for every aerial that isn't the nair, though I sometimes use control stick + A for rising aerials.

This guide might get updated this weekend with some other stuff.

**** thank you for reminding me, I still haven't finished reading the Match-ups.
And now I want to try to use X.
It just seems like playing with the Claw hand style.

I use X just because Y forces my thumb into a strange arch.

Claw is where you press the buttons with your index, grab with your middle and C-stick with your thumb, I think.

So I attempted to start using X to jump.
I realized my thumb doing that arch whenever I used Y.
I'll continue to use X. One thing I noticed though is that full hopped Nairs are a bit more difficult.

Hold X, tip your finger over to A for the nair. Bam. Full jump nair.

I dunno, I think that Y is probably better for super techy stuff, but I'm already in the habit of using X, so I'll be reseting myself unnecessarily.

Y is far better for things like shdl and other techy moves involving the B button. Link has none of these so it really doesn't matter what you do. Use the control stick to jump if you feel like it, N64 plays Pika and still pulls it off.

The reasoning behind Y being better is you can easily hit B or A while covering Y, but with X the only button within easy reach is A (hence shdl being harder if you use x).

I invented a grip called the squid
you basically (and awkwardly) hold the controller so every finger is on a button, you end up palming the control stick. IT'S ****ING EPIC!

Who won it?
Axe did. Lol. But it was super close. Over 100% each on last stock then axe did fair > usmash to win. But that was just for the first match. I think mango was just messing around. He went falco the next two matches and won the set so...

So i started out as a Link main in the start of my career, then gradually became a falco main soon after. My link was modeled after Germ (I think it was around '07) and that was the last time I've played Link. So the first time in a long while I played Link again and felt powerless.

How's the Link metagame going in '09?

So I played some dude who didn't know any Advance Techs.
I was like ahaaaaaaaaaaaa.
And then he picked Sheik and I was like whatever.
So then I was trying to control the field and what-not like I should.
But I was getting ****ed up.
And he picked Fox after and I 4-stocked his ***.
Teach me how to Sheik. D:

What in the world could Sheik be doing to you not knowing any advanced techs?

Knowing advanced techs doesn't automatically make you better than newbies.

That's actually not true. She can short hop needle cancel to aerial under Pokemon Stadium's platforms =P

Knowing advance techs normally DOES make you better then some n00b since you have the upper hand.
As I stated I 4-stocked his Fox so it's just a matter of Link's rivalry with Sheik.

And it was on Pokemon stadium so when it went to others I did a bit worse.

Well it's not just the chain grabs.
You can't combo sheik as much as Fox.
It's not as easy to edgeguard her with her gay invincibility frames.
Read Skler's guide and you'll see alot of ****. D:

Hmm. I find sheiks kinda easy to edgeguard. You just gotta predict if they are going for the ledge or the stage. 50 50 chance. They have alot of lag on the upB. I just stay on the edge forcing them to go for the stage then go with a ledgehop fair or dair.

Sheik is harder to outright kill from an edge guard, whereas Fox can get gimped at stupid %s because of him being Fox. Sheik is harder than Fox due to Link's lack of solid defensive options vs Sheik, against Fox he can at least jab approaches.

Fox gives you more chances to win, Sheik really shuts you down pretty badly.

Y'think? I find Sheik's approaches fairly easy to take care of, especially if they don't know about needle cancels and such.

EDIT:

Though, when I was a newbie and playing Sheik, I always went for vertical kills. Then again, that's how I played Falco, too.

...I wasn't very good.

Sheiks that know what they're doing have safer approaches than Fox. Fox always has to risk getting stabbed whereas Sheik can choose to space, run in and CC a hit, needle cancel or just do an aerial if you have no platform. You can't really punish either one once they hit your shield, and that's where Fox really outshines Sheik.

Props to people who got my excellent pun in there.

Yeah but that's assuming they know what they're doing.

And that pun hurt more than a... a something that hurts really badly.
