Okay, I've lurked this forum for about 8 years now, this is my first post here and my first thread.... anywhere o_o -- Anyway, I've been noticing some updated sound effects for different things in the game, and what I've noticed so far, I really like.

The main ones that stand out are Sonic's spin dash sounding more like his 2d iterations, and Kirby's warpstar also sounding more true to it's original games -- This also makes me really hope they change Ness' jumping sound effects back to how they were in Smash64.

Has anyone noticed any other unique sound effect changes they like, or have anything they hope gets updated in terms of sound effects?

Sword slashes sound more metallic. Harder hits have a greater "CRUNCH" to the impact.

Also, electric shocks have a nice, deep "Brrrzt" noise. It sounds great so far. I just wish the Ray Gun would have the Smash 64 sound. That thing was epic.

8 years doe? LMAO

One of the most iconic sound affects is Mario's Super Jump Punch being from Super Mario for the NES

Jigglypuffs sing, and the pokeball sounds stand out to me too

I want Ness' PK Flash to sound a bit more "flash-like". Some mysterious ethereal noise I think would be more appropriate than the simple BOOM it has currently.

Yea commitment is a big step for me lol.

I will also say that Megaman's sound effects seem spot on. Has anyone heard a good clip of Kirby's inhale? I think that's one that could definitely benefit from taking a more classic sound compared to how it was in the past.

Hm, I didn't really read the OP lol so my bad for mentioning Jiggly.

Swords make a clink-ish sound lol
The hit sounds are the best by far IMO, sounds so satisfying!

Would the "pain" sounds from 64 and Melee the characters made when they are struck at high percentages be considered a sound effect? It seems like these were brought back for this iteration, at least for the demo build, unless my hearing was off.

I do not remember these being in SSBB, but I guess they were sort of there. Characters in that game made some sort of delayed grunt after being knocked back from strong attacks.

^-^

They count, and I agree - and reminds me that in the 64 version the crowd was much more involved with their oohs and ahhs increasing in intensity as you were knocked further and further, that was kinda fun too, but it's clearly not back this time and I'm not sure it fits with the theme for any of the Smashes after 64..

I thought we've heard a lot of Smash bros 4 sound effects over the past few months and during E3 2014. I think this game's sound effects sounds great!

Now, if you're talking about the cheers for the characters, 64 had the best cheers and chants. The exceptions being "We Like Ike", "Snake, Snake, Snaaaaaaaake!", and Melee's droning "Gaaaanondoooorf."

I hope this game's cheers have the enthusiasm of 64. Melee's crowd cheers sounded awful otherwise.

The sound effects in general this round remind me of 64 (which is great, that's one of the best things about 64) Also, welcome to the forum!

I liked the incredibly macho crowd voices chanting "Pi-chu, Pi-chu, Pi-chu, Pi-chu!" in Melee. Like, the fact that it's a bunch of buff guy-sounding voices cheering for an overly-adorable little mouse thing.

Also: *clap clap clap* "FALCON!" *clap clap clap* "FALCON!" *clap clap clap* "FALCON!" *clap clap clap* "FALCON!" in Brawl was pretty great too.

Interested to see if they take all of Robin's final spell sound effects from Awakening. If I recall, they used the little note that plays every time you're about to cast a spell during his debut trailer.

Smash has always had great sound fx, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Also Megaman's sound effects make me silently squee with fanboy joy.

The sound effects in this game sound like the best yet. So glad they "fixed" the sword, electric, and punch sound effects too, those were poopy in Brawl. Exceeded expectations, baby.

In Smash 4, DK gets a new chant.

"DK! Donkey Kong!"
