My only problem with Dante is that we’ve never seen DmC on Nintendo. I like the idea Phoenix Wright, Leon Kennedy, or Monster Hunter a little more because of the history, but he’d still be fun.

I’m aware of that, but it’s not DmC. It’s not like Cloud; there were still Final Fantasy games on Nintendo.

It’s not impossible, just not my preference.

Joker. Persona as a series has never been on a Nintendo console, outside of Spin-Off Titles and Crossovers (Persona Q/Q2 & BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle) and a DLC costume in Sonic Forces.
Sakurai and Nintendo clearly don't care about appearances on Nintendo consoles when it comes to character & series inclusions, otherwise we would likely have gotten a Shin Megami Tensei or Etrian Odyssey character from Atlus instead of Joker..but Nintendo went with Joker because they knew Persona 5 was much more popular and well known.
If they wanted Dante from Devil May Cry, they'd pick him regardless of Nintendo appearances.
Also, its possible that Capcom will bring the Devil May Cry HD Collection & Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition to Nintendo Switch since they said they'll be bringing a ton of series to Switch, including some that have never been on Nintendo consoles before (which they've begun with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen..and if that game is there, the DMC games seem like a no-brainer.

Also, as Idon said, quoted below, its DMC, never DmC, that is a sure-fire way to trigger us Devil May Cry fans..there's a big difference between..

DmC

And talking about DLC, too! I updated my signature recently, with 2 new faces.

A couple of people have quoted me with Cloud and Joker, but those go entirely with my point.

Cloud himself was never prominent on Nintendo, but Final Fantasy was. No matter how you slice it, he’s the biggest character of Final Fantasy, so it feels natural to include him. I’ve been a Cloud supporter for a LONG time for that very reason.

I’d very much argue the same for Joker. Persona is a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei, which has PLENTY of Nintendo games. Joker just so happens to be the big character so many people like.

Dante is a great character, and he’s appeared in Project X Zone, but there has never been a Devil May Cry game on a Nintendo console. That is my entire point. Don’t read any further into it lol

And, for the third time, I don’t think that makes Dante less likely. He’s just less desirable to ME PERSONALLY because I would prefer a character I more associate with Nintendo, and Capcom has an actual ton of those.

Thank you. I know it’s a stretch, but Persona is definitely the first thing that comes to mind know when I think of SMT; it’s become much more prominent than its mother series for so many people.

If we really are going full-on “anyone can be in,” I’d probably “support” Master Chief and Kratos. They’d be cool in Smash.

Cloud represents a game that at the time represented Square "betraying" Nintendo and swapping over to Playstation. A lot of old school Nintendo fans looked at FFVII as a kind of dark horse. Seeing Cloud in Smash would be such a huge slap to the face to those fans and I ****ing love it.

On a personal basis, that’s a tough choice. Both series are great and nostalgic for me, and I like both characters a lot, and I think they’d both be great fighters in Smash Bros.

But I’ll pick Banjo every single time without hesitation.

Sometimes I think some people's lives would be easier if they don't see a video game character's inclusion to a video game as a personal insult.

And that’s the best part; it’s an INCLUSION.

Like, I’d understand a little more on a cut. There was a character you were attached to, and they didn’t come back. That’s sad.

But to be so upset because someone was added? Like yeah...”screw all the people who enjoy and wanted that character, it doesn’t appeal to ME!”

since everything seems like it'll be 3rd party this go around I'd stick with these four complete curveballs that very few people actually want/or are expecting:

1) Spyro (Spyro)
2) Master Chief (Halo)
3) Dragonborn (Elder Scrolls)
4) Survivor (ARK)

If 1st parties will be present then I'd choose:

1) Skull Kid
2) Azura
3) Sceptile
4) Marx

Either way, if one of my lists came true it'd make a LOT of people mad lol.

I would be so surprised to see ARK, but a moveset involving lots of dinosaurs would be pretty dang cool. I think Dragonborn might not be as unlikely as some might think.

Sceptile is my FAVORITE Pokémon, and I wouldn’t mind Azura one bit at all. I’d actually be totally down for either of these lists.

I was being comparative because I was still thinking of the Dante thing. DMC is great, but so are Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Phoenix Wright, and Okami. And those have a lot more “association” with Nintendo, so it’s a little weird to me if we saw Dante above some of those.

Of course, we already have Mega Man and Street Fighter, so it wouldn’t be THAT strange. They could even add multiple very good Capcom characters.

But that is some strong Capcom favoritism. To be fair, Capcom owns a lot of stuff.

There's so much potential for a very fun, cool, and unique moveset with a Survivor from the series. Plus, I could see the Classic mode for them being very cool including characters like Yoshi, Charizard, Bowser, Ridley, etc... and the final boss for them being Rathalos as a reference to the Dragon boss from the game.

Definitely not likely at all due to ARK barely being notable here in the west now, and I doubt it even does well in Japan, though I could be wrong.
