Hey there everyone , just a couple of things today:

1st) Pre-registration for this upcoming weekend (December 16th) is now live! You can sign up over here: https://goo.gl/forms/Jz8rTpi3PwRD2Pu22
2nd) There will be more info on this throughout the upcoming week, but mark your calendars - the first Salem Showdown is scheduled for December 23rd! The short version is that we're going to alternate between Melee/P:M and Sm4sh for 'bigger' tournaments on the last week of the month - again though, please stay tuned for that! (This month's will be Smash 4)
3rd) This will be the last tournament of the year for both Melee and Project: M , since the week after (December 23rd) will be the first Salem Showdown (Sm4sh).
4th) Finally, our current Salem Smashfests PR cycle will end on December 31st, which means that the upcoming weekly (Melee/P:M) or Salem Showdown (Sm4sh/GG) are going to be the final tournaments for this cycle.

Hello everyone, I'm proud to announce the start of a new Salem Smashfests series!
Please come to the December 2017 Salem Showdown, the first in our series of larger, End-of-Month Events!

===== What are the Salem Showdowns?
They're our 'larger' events - larger prizes, a stronger focus on the game(s) of the month, special side brackets and events, and more!
We'll be alternating between Smash 4 and Melee + Project: M each month; here in December, we'll be starting with Smash 4!
Also, this will be the final Smash 4 (and GG) event for this Salem Smashfests PR cycle, so bring your A game!

===== Streams & Recordings
Assuming the venue internet cooperates, we'll be streaming all day on https://twitch.tv/SalemSmashfests !
We'll have 2 recording setups however - the first will be running the main bracket stream, but the second one is available for exhibition matches, side events, or by request if you want a specific match recorded so you can review it later!
*If you want your match recorded, let us know - the earlier the better!*

===== Buy-In Fees
- Venu Fee [$3]
- Smash 4: Singles [$5]
- Smash 4: Doubles [$2 (per player)]

Pre-reg won't get you any money off of the door fee (yet at least - sorry, still working stuff out for the future!) but if you wouldn't mind it really helps us make sure things are running smoothly.
Also, if you pre-register you are higher priority for getting your matches recorded or streamed, so that's a bonus at least!

===== FAQ
Q: Will there be Melee or Project: M at this event?
A: Nope, but Melee & Project: M will get their own version of this event in January! The game list will alternate each month, so expect your favorite game to be there every other month!

Q: Do I need to bring my own controller?
A: Technically no, but it's highly recommended! We do have a few spare controllers, but there is no guarantee that there will be enough for everyone - and no promises about the quality of the controllers, either!

Q: I want to help out! Who can I talk to?
A: Contact Jaxas if you'd like to help out - and thanks in advance!

Q: I have a great idea for a side event! How can I suggest it?
A: Well, either contact Jaxas or simply post here in the event! If people are interested, and it's something doable, then it'll probably happen!

Hey there everyone!

So it's looking like we'll be having 3 events this month:
- January 6th (more info in this post, PLEASE READ IT)
- January 13th
- and January 27th, the Melee & P:M Salem Showdown!

While these last two are NOT YET FINAL, the tournament this Saturday, January 6th, is definitely happening!

Borderlands Games is busy this weekend however, so we'll be hosting this Saturday's event at Wild Things Games (it's pretty close - address: 241 Commercial St NE, Salem, OR 97301).

With this the Venue Fee will also be going up to $2 per person this week, since it costs noticeably more to rent the room over there.

Hey there everyone , announcement time!

First up, this month's Salem Showdown will NOT be happening on the usual date, and will instead be on the first week of next month! This is the Melee and Project: M specific event with higher entry fees and prizes; we'll see you in early February!

Second is the reason for the first one: the final Saturday of this month is doing to be January 27th, which is one day after the release of Dragonball FighterZ. Because of this, the main focus on the 27th is going to be our DBFZ brackets!
Once we add FighterZ on the 27th, our new schedule will be:
1:00pm | Smash 4 Singles
1:00pm | Melee Singles (Likely actually 1:30-1:15, but scheduled for 1)
2:00pm | Dragonball FighterZ (which will start at $1, but may go up to $3 in the future)
3:00pm | Project: M Singles
5:30pm | Guilty Gear Xrd -Rev2-
8:30pm | Closing Time

Thanks to everyone who made it out this weekend; we had a pretty crazy number of people, but in the end we did make it through everything!

Before we get to the results, I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who brought setups; in the end we had a total of 16 different setups spread across the different games!

Without everyone's help, there's no way we could have made it through all 7 brackets in time!
I do have one more note though; I'm going to be re-working the specifics, but we may be re-instating our old limit on the number of simultaneous brackets any one person can be in.
More info on that later though - we'll be doing what we can to work around it as well though, so that everyone can be in as many games as possible if they'd like to!
