Considering that teching is universal, I don't see why it shouldn't work with Ike or any other character for that matter.

This works with Ike, but his recovery, being almost entirely vertical, is already good for surviving spikes; this is useful, but the problem is that if you don't DI into the stage enough, you might actually get trapped under it if you lost your jump trying escape the chainthrow.

I don't think you loose your jump trying to escape the chain throw. I spam up on the control stick and I always have it.

I would still try and do this after pratice it will become second nature and it could lead into a possible spike against falco if you do a wall jump tech. Once Falco is under the stage using fire bird to get back he is pretty much dead.

It depends how good the Falco is at chainthrowing. Unlike Melee, if you're grabbed and thrown after you use your double jump and before you touch the ground, you won't get it back. If the Falco screws up the timing, he'll miss the grab by a couple of frames, allowing you to double jump but not escape the chain throw. If he does it properly from then on, you shouldn't touch the ground and thus should not have your double jump.

This happened to me at my first tourney; I was wondering why I couldn't jump after getting DThrown and then DAir'd off the edge, but then I realized that I had lost my jump trying to escape the chain throw. Now I just try to button-mash out of the grab but I don't jump out; it really isn't that hard to survive the spike at 50% if you save your jump and up+B at the proper time.

No really, I quit.
wrong.
what you should do is SDI towards the wall and tech it.
THIS HAS BE PROVEN TO WORK.
Meteor canceling falco's spike and landing back ON The stage with aether isnt hard to do.

Depends on the percent, I think teching lets you survive longer/makes you less predictable. If you know Ike is gonna immediatly up B...yea.
Yeah what? Your only possible option is to aerial drift off the stage then try to back air him out of aether, you cant hog him in time.

you have to tech it. But it's possible that the falco messes up and if you DI this way then you might simply land on the stage. Still tech to be sure and make sure your ready to meteor cancel.

The timing for that is really narrow, and since any time you falco can dthrow>dair you, you can meteor cancel>up-b make it back, i don't think it's worth practicing with ike at all.

You can tech everything, you know that beast on New Pork Land? Teched it at 53% Links Final Smash? teched at 693%.

Question is, is that if you can time it. What this the idea that it's going to go towards FD? when I chain grab, it usually spikes away from FD, if not directly down...ish.

falco doesn't choose which direction he spikes in. DI does (ergo, the chaingrabee)

Be grateful that Falco's spike is nowhere near as good as it was in Melee.

The better thing to do is to sdi the spike towards the stage. You'll just land on the stage after the spike. Trying to tech is kinda risky.

This is what happens if you SDI the spike towards the stage <_< if you're close enough, you get onto the stage, if you're not, you tech.

Yeah lol. I always seem to think that if someone asks about falco's spike they mean after the chaingrab. But yeah I shoulda just said that if you sdi towards the stage then you'll lang on it after cg->spike. Sorry bout that.

His Dair is really predictable so SDI wouldn't be that hard to time, worth a shot
the button input is really fast any way so if you do miss just UB.

Well Smash DIs are significant for all characters. If you follow that example with Ike, you probably have a chance of surviving it with Ike. However I'm no Ike player so I won't really try myself. But it looks like you don't need speed to survive it but DI skills
