If Nintendo is really serious about using their IP for other mediums besides video games more often, I'd bet on an anime adaptation of Fire Emblem.

The series is getting a mobile title, has seen a rise in popularity over the past few years and is regarded as a major IP by Nintendo nowadays. A TV anime series would be a smart way of promoting the IP.

Also, according to this tweet, they're not looking towards live-action adaptations, but animation:

Considering that Nintendo does have ties with the anime industry and has collaborated with some well-known studios in promotional shorts (such as the recent Star Fox Zero short or those based on Kid Icarus: Uprising), seeing an anime adapted from one of their IPs in the near future is very likely.

In addition to recent collaborations, there's stuff like the F-Zero anime, the short-lived Fire Emblem OVA, the Kirby anime and, of course, the Pokémon anime.

I also suppose we should not rule out the possibility of Western-produced animated works... Donkey Kong Country comes to mind, as do some old cartoons based on Mario and Zelda. Though how much input they've had on them is anyone's guess.

So they really were specifically thinking of the Super Mario Bros movie when they made that move. It's hilarious to see a confirmation on that. XD

But it's just as well. Nintendo is the kind of thing that would look horrible in live action with nearly all their IPs.

Hope they've got some cool stuff in the works, I'm excited that they're finally working on things again even if they're playing it super safe because they're understandably horrified at what happened the first time.
