It seems like everytime someone says they're going to host a tourney, it just ends up never happening.

Chris, do you remember the one I hosted in Des Moines? Our first tourney, years ago? Well it was a horrible disaster. Ian hosted one at InPlay a while back, with a fair turnout, but there were only four people there who were actually any good.

We live in Iowa. Tournaments are going to be difficult.

I think a small Des Moines Smashfest (for Melee) would be an excellent idea. I haven't played in a good amount of time and would like to meet with the current scene.

This would also benefit jimbob13i and Kiwikomix, because I'm assuming they have never played tournament-level Smashers, and would probably want Ian and I to crush them before they enter a tournament. [Sorry, just messing with you guys!]

Kiwikomix, we live in Des Moines, probably the highest concentration of skilled players in the state. I'm sure we will have no problem getting at least a handful of players together for some matches.

I think it'd be best if we discussed details in the Des Moines thread, as we do have one around here somewhere.

I've really only played two or three skilled players or people who could be at tournament level. Whether I win or lose, it'll be good to play someone much better than me, since I've never been to a tourney or Smashfest or whatever.

well i wont be open this friday and sorry to say if we did play it might have to be at ur place, i just recently moved to ankeny and i don't have a wii so i just play at my friends every weekend and they like almost 30 miles away, and the ankeny dmacc itself doesn't hold the tourneys its just a whole bunch of people i know and we all get together someplace big and hold a smash tourney, its nothing official, but its still a good tourney.

Yes, just with brawl 2v2 first. Then Melee 1v1. Probably housing if anyone needed. I'll post the address later.

Brawl will be $15.00/team.
Melee will be $10.00/person.

I'm sure all of you'd know the rules for Melee. I don't feel like copying and pasting.

I'm not sure about the rules for 2v2 Brawl though. Could someone tell me?
