SPOILER WARNING:

There's no wavedashing in BlazBlue.

So anyway, the Makoto DLC is supposedly 800 yen (about $9). Multiply it by 3 characters and we have a game that effectively costs $67 for full value ($40 for the disc, $9 each for the 3 DLC characters). I was initially not worried about the price of the DLC but now I am since it's approaching $70.

Yeah, that kinda annoys me. The main reason I won't be buying the DLC right away (unless the characters appear to be really fun) is because I don't even play every character in the original BB. I usually focus on a few and learn the matchups through online or whatever.

I had that same lunchbox.

I've heard negative things about Continuum Shift. Is it much better than CT like SSF4 was than SF4?

Anyway, I'm quite curious as to how Squirrel Girl is going to play. I felt that the only character that was close to my preference was Noel and maybe Taokaka.

Depends. I honestly think SSFIV had a bigger upgrade. I don't mean just by content, but by gameplay mechanics (imo). SSFIV added another Ultra and made FAs much faster. BB's only gameplay mechanic (excluding character specific changes like Rachel's Frog meter and new moves for everyone) is how Bursts work differently. As for new content, I don't think it's even close to how much SSFIV added.

As for balanace changes, SSFIV kinda just compressed the existing tiers while BB kinda flipped and exchanged character rankings.

Edit: Then again, BBCS added another new story mode. So that's actually quite a bit of content there.

Basically yes. That comparison is pretty apt, only slightly less so since Continuum Shift doesn't have as many new characters (4-6 compared to 10). Of course, Arc System Works doesn't have the resources Capcom does, but whatever.

Squirrel Girl

Interestingly, another good character for MvC3. She could have an 8-way dash, infinites on the whole cast, flight, teleportation, super armor, charge a full meter with all her normals, Squirrel-oboros, Hyper Squirrel Beam, and exploding heads.

But let's talk about that in the respective thread.

I was more concerned about the balance of the game. I'm okay with not having as many characters being added.

The moment MvC3 was announced, she went to the top of my wants list. Maybe Makoto will be top tier.

On another note, with the current cast, I'm not really sure which character is quite for me. Going from SSFIV to BBCS is going to a bit of a challenge, but I was wondering if you guys could point me in a direction for who to try out. Some of you already know I play as El Fuerte and Ibuki. Who in CS would be a good choice to try out for a similar style? I want to look into Bang (which my friend has compared me to), but I'm not quite sure.

If you look into the likes of Bang, you're looking at a Top Tier contender. Though a lot of the tier list is up in the air, I'm guessing, with all the new characters in the works. As it stands right now though, Bang is a great choice.

Ragna the Bloodedge is kind of like an easy button nowadays, and if I recall, Top Tier, 3rd best to Litchi and Bang. But in Continuum Shift, the sense of balance is pretty decent so... It's a matter of taste in lots of situations. You could also go with Taokaka. She's pretty cool too.

My friend was telling me that Bang was top tier. Maybe I lucked out this time if I decide to go with him.

Anyway, I'm not into easy button characters. I feel it takes away the fun.

It's hard to say since the games play differently. Although, Taokaka's taunt loop combo sure does remind me of El Fuerte's loop combo. Bang doesn't feel like Ibuki, but pick him if you want a real good character or if you just want a ninja.

Everyone could use a little bit of ninja in their life.

Also,

Mu-12's Theme. Sword of Doom.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q-1BlTJrf4&playnext_from=TL&videos=ySIFB-es_qc&feature=sub

It'd probably sound a lot more intense if the sound was better quality. Like, cranked on your big screen TV or something. How appropriately named though. Sword of Doom. lmao I love Awakening the Chaos way more as a final boss-esque song from Calamity Trigger.

As well, Ao-Iconoclast returns as a selectable song.

I actually just saw those off of Dustloop recently and was about to post them. :laugh:
I'm probably going to main Mu while having Rachel as my other main so I can torment people with such a crappy character. My former main has fallen so far... I can always hope for that balance patch whenever that comes out.

But yeah, I definitely want to use Mu. She even has a Dizzy color scheme. :)

Oh great, they have something like the trial mode in SF4! This is just what I needed.

I fiddled a little bit with BB and I'm going to try again with Taokaka.

So, there was a stream.
A stream that looked into CS' console pac files.

Inside were 12 extra DLC colors for all characters, #20 being references to GG characters, including.

Ragna = Sol
Jin = Robo Ky
Noel = I-No
Carl/Nirvana = ABA/Key
Arakune = Eddie
Tao = May
Tsubaki = Millia
Tager = Potemkin
Lambda = Justice
Mu = Dizzy
Hakumen = Baiken
Litchi = Jam
Bang = Anji Mito
Hazama = Venom

Honorable mention to another DLC Hazama has, if I had any plans on maining him, I'd hop on the bandwagon and use this color too, I think it's his #13 = The Joker.

Also this sneak peak confirms the extra DLC characters.
Valkenhyn and Platinum the Trinity.

Platinum is a loli magic girl, brace yourselves.
The person who hosted the stream has ripped and will upload everything on DL (DLC palettes and character portraits of Makoto, Valkenhyn and Platinum).

What's Rachel's GG reference color? Or does she not have one? :(

Also, knuxrouge already mentioned what type of character Platinum is.
But here's the art of her for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. http://i46.tinypic.com/5d47k4.png

Edit: Never mind, I just saw Rachel having Slayer colors.

Well, after playing the first Blazblue for a bit at a friend's house, I've decided to get CS.

However, there's one thing that I want to know. Can I play CS's story without much knowledge of the first game?

If someone could give me a quick summary of the major events from the first game's story mode, I'd really appreciate it.

I haven't finished story mode myself yet, but I think you should be fine. If you're still concerned with knowing the story, there should be a summary of it online. While I can't think of where off the top of my head, you could ways check Youtube for videos or those wiki pages.

And are you getting it for 360 or PS3? Just curious. :laugh:

Are we still doing that release date room?
I'll probably be getting it the day it's out, so yeah.
If anyone else is getting it on Day 1, let's play. Or we can wait a day or 2 if that's what people want.

It doesn't really matter.

Blazblue Calamity Trigger's story can't get a "quick" summary.
You're better off not worrying about it unless you put your reading glasses on and read up on CT's story.

I'm getting it on day 1, so that sounds good to me.

Yeah, I just read a lot about it. It seems really good; I might get the original when it comes out for PC.

Anyway, I just tried out the arcade version (on pc) of CS, and it seems like it will be a fun game, lol. I'm definitely getting it now.

I just finished CT's story last night and I have to say I'm still confused as hell. I'll probably have to find a summary to figure this out. ^_^;

Thanks! I can't decide whether to have the stick in the middle of the screen or put the robot under the buttons and use clear buttons. >_<

And I didn't see that coming.
I kinda like having Canti on the left. Putting clear buttons and having the artwork shown seems kind of hard/annoying. You have to cut out the art and stick them in each of the buttons. And Werekill, I'll add you later on PSN whenever I get to it. Probably closer to BBCS's launch date.

And Jam Stunna, I'll go Rachel against your Litchi. I don't think that's going to go so well for me though. lol
I need to learn a backup fast.

Cool. I think I'm going to make Makoto my secondary, simply because Makoto is also my secondary in SSF4.

I don't really mind, to be honest. However, I probably won't change it; it looks pretty good as it is.

I'm probably going to use this as a ball top. I'm also going to get Sanwa buttons and a stick.

It's good that you're switching out the stick also. I used to have an SE and it began screwing up. Controls were unresponsive or I'd be jumping and stuff like that. The newer SEs probably fixed that though.
