Thing is, any good v-13 will hit you at least three or four times before you can hit her at all. Arakune may be better in certain ways, but v-13 just has better options all around. I'm not saying she's 'unbeatable' by any stand, just that she's far and away the best character, with Arakune being second, Rachel being third, and the rest of the group kinda tying together, then Tager is easily the worst. Carl would be too, but he's got grab-loops on pretty much the whole cast.

Oh, and I'm a Tao user also, just so y'all know.
i guess youve never seen a good tager vs V-13 or a good jin vs V-13, **** isnt easy for V-13 like it was sheik in melee, thats not even a good comparison. Sheik has good defense on top of her easy offense, V-13 has terrible stamina.

both examples are from Mike Z playing Tager

in a post from SRK regardling the tier list taken from Arcadia magazine (japan only)

Taken from the July issue of Arcadia magazine, organized by match ups in a spreadsheet:

BlazBlue Tier Rank List v1.0

Carl made a huge jump from his bottom tier position in preliminary tier lists, thanks to Dio and the discovery of that nasty loop. I personally don't think Tager's harder match ups are that lopsided; 8 - 2 is an exaggeration, but I imagine things will change after SBO and in the coming months as we get a stateside console release and more is learned.

For your convenience:

1) V-13 : 11.5
2) Rachel : 9.0
3) Arakune : 6.0
4) Jin : 4.5
5) Carl : 4.0
6) Ragna : 0.0
6) Noel : 0.0
7) Litchi : -1.0
8) Taokaka : -1.5
9) Haku-men : -3.5
10) Bang : -7.0
11) Tager : -15.0

Obviously there will be the rare instances where a great Tager will beat a good v-13. Point is, even when we see Taj's Mewtwo beat a good Fox, we don't decide Mewtwo suddenly stands a chance. It's just Taj is THAT good.

Mike_Z is the best Tager in the world at the time. Not even Japan can touch the guy. He's made SBO, so yeah, he'll probably kick 90% of the v-13's ***** at the moment. This doesn't mean v-13 isn't a broken character, just that Mike_Z is a beast with the worst character in the game.

EDIT: Oh, and here's a great Jin vs a good v-13.

****, I love this game.
I picked up Carl; right now, he's really hard to learn. I'm hoping with a lot of practice, I'll be able to **** people with my grab loops/Nirvana combos. Good thing I have a stick :)

Gah, the game just came out and the competitive community is already sounding like Smash's. I'm not very hyped for this game anymore, sadly. lol

BlazBlue is great, I do not deny this. Really fun, and everyone should play it. I'm just starting to think (not quite convinced, I'm just looking for evidence on either side) that v-13 makes the game too unbalanced. Even if she was taken out of the game, Arakune would run rampant and do the same thing. I still have loads of hope for this game's competitive future, I'm just making sure I'm not putting my hope in the wrong place.

But, if this game doesn't pan out, you should all come over to Guilty Gear with me.

EDIT: Really? Mike_Z didn't make SBO? I coulda sworn I'd read that somewhere... Huh. Well, anyways, my mistake. ^_^; Doesn't change the fact that he's still one of the few awesome Tagers, though.

There's talks about a revision patch to be distributed later on that's circulating around. do keep in mind it is on console and they can distribute patches, pending stupid sony and microsoft approvals for crap
Would those affect the arcade machines too, though? I mean, could they mod the arcade machines to have the patch? Since that's where most of the big tournaments are played, I'd figure it's kind of important whether or not that's possible...

You guys think that just because tager has trouble with v-13 this will hurt the games scene.
v-13 does not bresak the game LMFAO she is glass. She has the lowest stanima in the game next to ragna. By the way the game JUST came out and it tager utilizes his drive right he can bring V-13 to him. its a bad matchup sheesh...
Lol at this game sounding like smash. It sounds like EVERY other fighting game that has a bad matchup.
Grabblers have usually been near the bottom of the tier lists anyway it comes with the territory.

The game has been out in arcades since november of last year...

as far as Grabbers being in the bottom... look at Zangief plz

for the patching issue, the cabinets are usually runned in discs and hard drives, so pretty much they can put crap on it. they don't have network access (to play across with other arcade centers) and such like Beatmania IIDX where they have time release unlocks and exclusive content access through the internet (e-amuse). Virtua fighter 5 had a few revisions (PS3 has B, 360 has C, while arcade has version R).

Similar talks go on here. The biggest difference is that the people who frequent those sites understand just how dynamic some of these games can be. The Smash Community? Not so much.

Please note the keyword "similar." You can't honestly escape talk of tiers and ridiculous people saying absurd things about a game.

I should have edited my post I know the game has been out in arcades. doesnt mean its not subject to change. Its one matchup...
But I'm not talking about one matchup, I'm talking about everyone. V-13 counters the WHOLE cast. Nobody counterpicks her, she has an advantage in every match. Is she perfect? Of course not. Next to Carl and Ragna I think, she has the lowest health, and her up-close combat isn't that great. Point is, that stuff doesn't matter. She has half to three-quarter health combos on EVERYBODY. One combo and a few random hits, and you're dead.

Again, I have hope for the competitive scene, I'm just wondering how v will factor in. From all the evidence I've seen, she's easily the best character by a long shot, but the game is still relatively young.

this is blazblue, EVERYONE has big damage health combos, i play nu, ive been hit by PLENTY 1/2 life combos, she has low stamina, of course her advantages far outweigh her disadvantages, but the point is, she has them, and all you have to do is exploit them. Haku-men does insane damage, i see no one complaining about him. IMO this game is well balanced, its just that she is at the top, but i dont think everyone else is that far away from her, maybe arakune.

EDIT:
new scrub matches from me:

Sounds like you need to play against a good Jin, WGS. Not a scrubby one either. A really good one. Let's see you complain about Nu then.

>__> Seriously, bro. She's good but she is not THAT good.

Rachel Alucard is the best character in this game, and for all those who don't agree... don't like goths. XD

I've played a couple really good Jins, and yes, they can be a pain to play. Heck, the whole cast can be tough, really. Thing is, Nu is better than all of them. She has solutions to everything every character can dish out. No matter who you use, short of a ditto match, she is at the advantage, even if it's a slight one. There's something to be said about a character who wins every matchup.

Again, YES, I know you can beat v-13. It's clearly possible, without a doubt. That doesn't mean her character doesn't naturally have an advantage. From fullscreen she can **** your face, and short of bursting, you pretty much can't do anything once she gets you. Yes, every character pretty much has half-to-full health combos, but Nu has the ones with the least amount of danger involved for her.

EDIT: Oh, and for future reference, most of this isn't from my own perspective/experience. The info/thoughts I've gathered have come from watching pro vids. I know I'm not a professional at this game, and I doubt anyone I've played is either. I'm just responding to what I've seen in the pro-circuit and the opinions I've heard from those who do play at a professional level.

EDIT2, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: Rachel is amazing, but I don't like goths. Therefore, I give her third place. XD

Jin is awesome.

This game's tech system is weird and seems to like to not work, or I am just doing something horribly wrong.
I also suck at getting out of the corner. Half the time, I can't even see myself.
I wish I had a monitor with component input.

When you freeze someone (With throw, for example), where they fly into the air, when they land, and I go up to attack, once they are hit out of the ice, it acts like they are in midair, right?

no one is denying she is top, but we all agree she is beatable. Sagat is top, Sheik is top....so what? neither of them have any bad matchups in thier respective games melee and SF4. but how many of them win a major tourney? being somewhat easier to play and have advantages on the entire cast doesnt equal auto win, it takes alot more than the character, its all up tot he player, its the people that have to play the matches, the characters are just there to use. V-13 may seem overwhelming early on in your playing, but as you grow, you can come to handle her.

nu's not that big a deal...u say she has an answer for every character in every situation, but that goes for alot of the cast, granted her options are easier to find, all u have to do is exploit her. its like rock paper scissors. she's just a little lighter on execution. she's really not all that cheap, unless ur using tager lol, and thats only to a certain extent. mind u, i'm a jin player, and aside from ken34 i have yet to lose to a nu(u hardly see any) and thats because i play him so much that i know what to do against her alot of the time to the point where its just a matter of knowin what ur opponents gonna do. the basis of all fighting games

(Yes, I know it's most likely the delay of the internet, not the lack of skill)
i love gettin rid of scrubs that way.

on another note. ppl cry too much.

scrub v-13s cant win just like any other scrub playin any other char. cant win.

the sooner ppl stop complain the sooner they get better at matchups and better with there characters.

keep in mind that this isn't brawl, there isn't 33 other matchups for you to understand. you only need to know 11 for this game...

Remember, every character is beatable... This isn't Brawl where MK can just **** you up with a gimp (unless you're tager mind gaming into his 720 throw) and ****.

Hehe... Arakune's a beast. I hate fighting him so much.
I got a lot of experience facing him because of this one guy. All the matches were so close, but I only ended up winning one full match against him. Those bees are so annoying.

Luckily I have Rachel's wind to help me get around.... but those bees. XD

Oh, and I had another guy disconnect on me. I was trying out my Jin but he disconnected right before it declared me the winner. Luckily it hasn't been too much of an issue though.

I'm thinking of getting this game... What do you guys think of it? I need a well-made and intelligent explanation, including how it stacks up to other fighters. No one sided opinions, please.

This is for me and a friend, and we have pretty harsh indecisive personalities, :\

If you enjoy the Guilty Gear series, you'll most likely enjoy this game. It's a tad bit more masher-friendly than GG, but I still think it stacks up really nicely (and once you get to higher levels of play, mashing isn't an issue anyways). The visuals are nice (not to mention the awesome soundtrack), and I find that each character is very unique and brings something cool to the table. Online is solid, and though I may argue about the three or four top characters quite a bit, compared to most fighters out there today, the game is pretty balanced.

Nice Jin. I've been having issues facing Jins since Jin's really good at capitalizing when the opponent whiffs.
I'm also relearning Rachel. I haven't been using her the way you're supposed to. I've been playing way too defensively with her. I'm still looking for more PSN friends so I can try out my Rachel.

Finally getting it today after being in texas so freaking long, though there was a arcade there that had BB. Arakune all the way for me.
