Endless Nightmares
Smash Master
While messing with different control schemes in Brawl, I realized that you could set the c-stick to "attack". Old news I know, but I never change my controls so I just found it today
. Anyway, I decided to try it out. I set my c-stick from"smash" to "attack", and while I was at it, I changed L, D-up, D-side and D-down to "grab" to parody the supposedly campy/grabby nature of Brawl.
While using this new scheme, I quickly realized that I was replacing previously bad move choices with good ones. Smashes became tilts. Shields (with L) became grabs. Taunts became grabs.
I noticed that a lot of time my smash spamming could have easily been replaced with a quicker and safer tilt that would leave my smash to be a strong kill move, instead of a watered-down attack due to spamming. Also, when I'm moving I usually grab with L, and when I'm stationary I grab with R. One of my "approaches" was to run up to someone and shield (L). Now I was landing a lot more grabs when I would've shielded. I even got a few grabs with the taunt button (how embarrassing),
Anyway, this scheme made me a lot more aware of where I was placing my attacks, and taught me to use my smashes more wisely. I'll definitely be using this control scheme for a while.
Anyone have comments or similar stories?
