That wasn't really my point... The argument for Banjo-Kazooie is not the same as Crash, Banjo-Kazooie means something more to Nintendo in an entirely different way, and the competition between the two isn't what my argument was. My argument, if it's even an argument, was about Crash vs. Sonic. And if you have a big reveal at the end for the final character, why would you pick a character that's a lesser Sonic, a Sonic Jr., someone who is just down the line who is beneath the value of the third party characters we've gotten already. Why do that when we can pick a characters that's more meaningful for completely different reasons. Reasons that I described in the first post I made in this thread. That's why Banjo-Kazooie would be bigger than Crash, bigger than Simon, or Megaman, or perhaps even Sonic himself, because Banjo-Kazooie is in a very unique position of once being an actual Nintendo owned character, and brings along history and drama along with him, from the buyout to being own by a direct home console competitor, to representing a reunion of the Disney and Pixar of the video game world. Banjo-Kazooie, despite sales, is a much bigger deal for Nintendo and thus Smash Bros. than Crash Bandicoot would be.
I will agree with you that Banjo-Kazooie has a lot more meaning (my self included) to Nintendo and Smash fans than Crash Bandicoot, if they make the final cut it would feel like we finally have come full circle seeing them come back home where they got their start, but since a lot of the big names such as Sonic, Pacman and Mega Man etc, are already in, theirs not a lot of star power left out there and so we have to go 1 tier lower than the icons of the industry and Crash Bandicoot is there with names like Banjo-Kazooie and Rayman on that tier, and while I don't like the fact that they are owned by Activision now, many people will still see it as Sony's de facto PlayStation mascot entering the fight, and while Sonic is a bigger let's be honest Crash made a way more bigger impact than any of the most wanted left potential newcomers on the list such as Bandana Dee, Isaac and Geno.

I don't mean meaning to the fans, I mean meaning to Nintendo themselves and their history. The fans can give meaning to any old thing, that's pretty much why Geno is as popular as he is.

But I will agree that outside of Nintendo and Smash, and just looking at gaming as a whole, Banjo-Kazooie is on the same tier as Crash, Spyro, and Rayman. Though that's why I needed to stress that Banjo-Kazooie would be in Smash for entirely different reasons than them, and that's why I didn't pit B-K again Crash in the comparison competition, rather, Crash against Sonic.

Yeah I forgot to put history next to Nintendo in my reply ,but your right that's what Super Smash Bros is mostly all about Nintendo's history. so yeah were pretty much on the same page, but I get your point, just wanted to get my point across too. Let's just hope Banjo and Kazooie make the roster and i would love to see them as a final big reveal.

Hear me out on this one lads:

Would banjo or geno be good showstoppers? Sure, I'd love for both of them to be in and I think they have a pretty good shot. But the fact of the matter is if we're discussing it in this thread then it's not really surprising, right? Sakurai and the gang ideally want to pull the rug on us and do something that we thought would never be possible before. A reveal with the same magnitude of Cloud that leaves us utterly shocked.

But if they really want to surprise us, who could they pull from? Third parties can be very tricky and unpredictable so it'd be best to pull from there. The challenge is to pull a 3rd party character that will A) surprise people, and B) hold relevance to Nintendo or gaming as a whole. Shantae, Rayman, Crash, those are all cool characters that have appeared on nintendo consoles, but the fact that there are support threads for them shows that they wouldn't be a huge surprise. What important video game character then, would make everyone go bonkers like they did for Cloud Strife way back in the day?

Skyrim's Dovahkiin.

Skyrim is hands down the most famous western RPG as it set the standard for non-linear adventures (which Breath of the Wild heavily drew from). Not to mention that Skyrim was one of the first games shown off for the Switch in the original October 2016 console trailer, showing that Nintendo was willing to step out of it's comfort zone and embrace 3rd party support from big hitters like Bethesda. The Dovahkiin being in smash would not only represent another facet of gaming history, but it would also represent a new era of Nintendo and their relationship with the greater gaming community.

Skyrim may be a rated M game, but that sure didn't stop Bayonetta. The Dovahkiin's wide arsenal of weapons and magic would give him a lot to do for a moveset, and his shouts could no doubt be what define him as a character (perhaps the shouts could have poor damage but insane knockback so his strategy would be to push his opponent away with shouts rather than launch them with heavy attacks?) but I'm sure sakurai and the team could pull it off.

To summarize, I think that the Dovahkiin is the perfect storm of being iconic, suprising, and Nintendo-relevant. This would make him a phenomenal way to end the hype train and make this Smash live up to the title of Ultimate.

My ancestors are smiling at me, Smash fans. Can yours say the same?
