That is right! Here and announced today, An Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced! I wonder what games will comer with this new system? Only by watching this will we find out. Still, it is great to see that such a reveal for the new system is going to happen soon, and I, for one, can't wait to see more of this console or what games it has!

So, you all ready for this?

Surprised they just kind of shadow dropped the trailer, was thinking the rumors of todays reveal were false since i thought they would have announced to check social media today for the reveal.

At least we got a sneak peak of a game as thats the only thing i really cared about seeing other than price & release date.

That sure is a bigger Switch!

The Mario Kart footage is where I'm really looking hard. Mario and DK seem to have redesigns, there's 24 racer slots, and Peach is on a bike in a dress (they can't all be upgrades...)
Having a new MK as a launch title is very smart after how 8DX exploded on Switch 1.

Well at least the Switch's successor is finally revealed!

Anyways, whilst I am glad to see that it will have backward compatibility with Switch games, I'm curious to know whether it can still play region free games?

In addition, I am eager to see what third party titles will come to the Switch 2.

Yeah. That's why I think they revealed Mario Kart 9 first. With how big Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ended up being it was a safe bet to make a completely new Mario Kart game a launch title. Also, this year is Mario's 40th anniversary, so I think they'll make a special game for that.

I've mentioned this in the Off My Chest thread, but I'd love for various old mouse dependent PC games to come to Switch 2 now that the option of mouse control is there. Numerous RTS, puzzle, and adventure games would be a blast to play on the next console if that was a practical option. Heck if Bethesda ever wants to put the Fallout games on Nintendo, let's get 1 and 2 in addition to the later games to really complete the library.

I've been going over in my head what some cool uses of the mouse control could be. There's the obvious stuff like Mario Maker, Pikmin, DS games, and so forth. but I wonder if Nintendo might have some unlikely uses of it. Given Star Fox has become the platform/dumping ground for gameplay experimentation I could see it getting a title that incorporates that concept into playthroughs, whether it's aiming with the mouse while moving with the controller, or maybe even incorporating strategic elements in some fashion. My mind keeps going to some sort of puzzle/mini-game element where you make repairs to your Arwing with it while flying which is probably impractical, but it feels like the sort of out there idea a new SF could go for.

MS better port AoE2 and the Starcraft games/Warcraft RTS's while they're at it with their Switch 2 ports. The mouse mode could potentially mean we finally have a console that can handle RTS games.

So this console is gonna have Miis, right?
It’s backwards compatible with the Switch 1, so it has to have Miis by default.

Otherwise some games may lose features. Like, Smash suddenly loses 3 fighters, making the DLC costumes worthless (at least 3 of them have music so they just become music unlocks. Plus one could technically get Miis if they 100% World of Light, but it only works once).

It's unlikely they will be retired since that would mean that several games would lose backwards compatibility even if Miis aren't the main focus such as MK8 and Ultimate.

After how much of an opportunity Nintendo missed with Tate Mode, I seriously hope the rumored mouse functionality doesn't make a similar mistake of not using for DS emulation.
My prediction is that 64 DS and NSMB would have some of the mini-games removed in PAL because of the Luigi Mini-Game.

I also hope that DS on Nintendo Switch Online also includes 3rd Party titles since lot of them are locked behind the DS such as the Kingdom Hearts games (358/2 Days and Recoded).

Now that I think about it, there was a disclaimer that stated that not all Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2. Could this suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 will not have amiibo support?

Yeah. I think those two games are the exceptions as they require peripherals that are not compatible with the Switch 2 joycons.
Also Labo wouldn’t work for other reasons like the device proportions being different. It means that it wouldn’t fit for the ones that require the screen like the VR one.

Guess we will eventually find out when the new Smash entry for Switch 2 will be revealed within the future.

Anyways, I found this rumour circulating on Reddit regarding to what other games could be heading to the Switch 2.

However, I would advise to take these rumours with a grain of salt for now.

I could definitely see Ring Fit having a sequel and maybe even another variation of Labo down the road; Nintendo basically building on both concepts and essentially making up for the Switch 1 editions not being usable on Switch 2.

So, a lot of people seem to be criticizing the Switch 2 as the death of Nintendo because its lacking creativity.

There's a fair amount of negative press surrounding that. Do you think the Switch 2 will switch because of that?

Well, considering the reveal trailer is currently sitting at 18 million views and counting after only 2-3 days, I think the Switch 2 will be fine. For now, let's just wait until the April Direct.

Some wish it would have a bit more color to it, or a better name, but the actual system is fine. So far. We haven't seen much at all. For all we know, some of it was quickly put out to cull the leaks and it may be slightly beta, etc.

Either way, the games are the most important part, imo.

I'm just saying, people thought the Switch would sell worse than the Wii U after its initial reveal. It's probably just negativity for the sake of engagement.

Nintendo probably don’t want to be too risky with making a sequel console after what happened to the Wii U. Lot of the comments are probably just being negative in general. The Switch 2 will definitely be successful.

I was thinking the same thing!

Plus, I am sure Nintendo did not need to be creative with the Switch 2’s appearance. I mean, I am sure it will be successful still, nonetheless.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. All of Nintendo's handhelds have had sequel consoles (Gameboy -> Gameboy Advance, DS -> 3DS) and were massively successful. Same thing with NES -> SNES (Famicom -> Super Famicom in Japan). Really the Wii U was the only major sequel console that was a failure, and that was because they gave it a confusing name "U" as a suffix instead of just a number or more descriptive suffix/prefix.

And do these people not pay attention to how Sony has just incremented the number of their home consoles names for 5 times in a row and were successful?

They will probably try to do something new after the Switch 2.

A completely new successor would presumably still be a hybrid since they got rid of their separate divisions.
