Ohio WILL live on.

Oh, and now that I'm so totally driving, and so totally not in highschool, I will so TOTALLY be coming to more tournaments around me. I'll just need some heads up on them is all. Don't expect me to come crashing in on some smashfest that's announced the week before. I need a good two-week notice for my work n' stuff.

Anyways, I'm in the central Ohio area. I live about twenty minutes out from Columbus in a little-known area betwixed the towns of Canal Winchester, Lancaster, and Pickerington. If you're near any of these places and feel like some good smashing, I could probably find you. So send me a PM, or swap AIM screen names with me. I'm also available for witty banter and trash-talking, if that's whatcha want, too.

Hello Ohio

Hello Ohio peeps. I'm an Indiana smasher who will be moving into Ashland University in about a week. I saw somebody post a little bit ago that they have to go to AU to find smashers. Frankly, this pleases me. If you're from AU or the Ashland area, I'd love to get to know you. I was kinda worried that there wouldn't be any smashers there. Please alleviate my stress.

Boy this thread... err... disappeared.

Anyways, I'm here to plug my favorite video game store once again in this thread.

Press Start Gaming has a couple tournaments coming up in March. On March 15th, they'll be hosting their first-ever Brawl tournament, and on March 22nd they'll be hosting a bit of a 'farewell to Melee' tournament. Official Press Start Gaming tournament thread. There's also a Wii Sports/Wii Play tournament on March 8th, but some of you may be doing something Brawl related by then, seeing as many stores (including PSG) are doing midnight launch things.

If you can't make any of these tournaments, feel free to join the forums, or just drop into the store if you're anywhere near. There are plenty of local Smashers who always welcome competition (myself included) and are often happy to come in when people say they're stopping by.

so is there a melee tourny on the 22nd? are there gonna be janky rules or standard stuff. those forums scare me... but i would go to a melee tourny on the 22nd if it was legit...

Aww, don't let the forums scare you. :D

Anyways, rules haven't been set yet, but I'm arguing for a standard tournament. However, for the occasional sake of more casual players, PSG sometimes goes for a less-MLG ruleset. They usually say so in advanced, though. I'll post back once they iron out the rules.

Either way, you can always show up whenever to just play friendlies if the tournament doesn't interest you. Just post on the shoutbox on the forums some time if you do. :)

I was hoping to get one going over spring break, but it looks like I may do it in the first week of summer. Would anyone come to a brawl tournament, or are we clinging to melee..

I would love to come to either really... but I am worried about brawl's multi-controller functionality... I don't know what the tournament "official" controller is.

I would only accept gamecube controllers. I'd prefer to forgo the whole debate and jsut sort of let people piss and moan about being so close minded rather than deal with the problems of connectivity and batteries and whatnot.

Sounds good. Over the next month I'll try and get one planned for a date closer to may.
Don't forget about the St. Ignatius tournament over spring break. no sense in having two in the same week. I'm thinkin late May, personally.

I'd attend one around May... but I need some tournament action over spring break, so I am gonna head over to the one in Philadelphia.

Hey you can stop feeling bad for me. Me and my neighbor teamed up and opened the wii up and fixed it ourselves since the warrantee was blown anyways. GREAT SUCCESS.

What's the tournament in Philly?

I am in Salem, which is pretty much 20 minutes away from Youngstown... I could definately come to something right around Cleveland, if you guys do get anything started.
