What matters more is the general consensus. You're always gonna have outliers here and there, so look at things that nearly every reviewer had issues with.

And from what I cam tell, the issues are the pacing, the copius amounts of tutorials, and an awful performance. Which... yeah, can tank an experience.

Edit: I should also note there was nothing wrong with the IGN review

Honestly the wild part about review discourse is that I feel people refuse to actually engage with the reviews because they only want to see the number. Mario Jamboree getting a 5/10 from Gamespot or whatever broke a lot of people's brains yet the review says "If you like these games you will most certainly have a good time" which is somehow not the kind of thing you want to see in a review?

EDIT: Just saw an overly defensive Nintendo fan get mad at the IGN review for 'doing more with Luigi' when the review says they streamlined him for the overworld which strips Brothership of some of the charm. Nintendo fans learn to read challenge: Impossible

To be fair, quite a few people have gotten copies early or emulated it and had absolutely no problem with these points. I’ve see. It praised as nothing but one of the best, if not the best in the series. So I’m not exactly sure IGN is worth listening too as it sounds like they have a different understanding of the franchise from the fans.

I'm insanely pumped about the Non-Disney Villains War featuring both Shendu and at least one Godzilla villain.

Cuz that means I get to see someone who's almost kind of similar to King Ghidorah (just swap out the extra heads and wings for absolute muscle mass) fight it out with a true blue kaiju.

And preferably get his tail handed to him, cuz I'll never forgive Shendu for what he did to Valmont /fangirl
