It juat baffles me how someone can disregard every single Pokémon after Gen 2. Like I'm not gonna get into my own thoughts on these gens but acting like everything after them has no merit is mind boggling to me

What's crazy is that the most popular Pokemon nowadays (besides the obvious like Pika and Zard) is from the DS era and beyond. Lucario, Garchomp, Greninja, Sylveon, Mimikyu, etc.

To be completely fair a lot of people who only like the earlier gens don't engage with the franchise anymore, meaning they probably weren't aware of the poll and therefore didn't vote.

Also the fact that my favorite Pokémon is the most popular one is pretty cool to me

I mean stats don't lie though, and even if many didn't engage after the first couple gens, millions of votes is still a very large sample size.

Also, on that note, Greninja topped the charts last time Pokemon held a massive popularity contest (before Pokemon Day 2020) so he's 100% up there.

My least favorite is Ice. Aside from being a terrible defensive type it just has the most Pokémon I struggle to say like, even the ones I like usually have a secondary typing and unlike most other types there's not a single Pokémon there that I can say is one of my all time favorites.

I don't like to say I have a least favorite type, though I do get pretty annoyed with Steel's sheer dominance. But I'm also not all that attached to most of the ice-type roster myself prior to Gen 9 introducing the excellent Chien-Pao. I mean, I'm pretty sure my favorite Ice-type before then was freaking Avalugg. Probably a hot take on my part, I'm just fond of the ice table (also it has one of THE BEST cries in the anime). But it also shows just how much I'm not all that attached to the Ice-roster - there's just not a lot else coming to mind.

That said, Electric of all types seems to have a similar problem for me. There just isn't really an Electric type I'm all that attached to aside from maybe Pachirisu. So maybe it's a case-by-case basis.

Not even joking when I say that out of every fire type, Torracat is my most favorite. It's design is so simple, yet so cool. When I first saw this, I was like, how are they gonna top this? Is it evolite viable? Is it's evolution gonna be some big panther like creature? No, it evolves into Crash Bandicoot. Yes it does, it absolutely does. Shut up about the heel thing, I don't care. He even has the spin attack. But this isn't about Incineroar, this is about Torracat, this small, buff housecat with a fiery bell- it is literally simplicity at its finest. The colors are fantastic, and I like the candy cane shiny. Some people don't, and I ask that they piss in the bowl of shame because they have zero taste in color schemes. He reminds me of my irl pet, Goji, which is another reason why I like Torracat.

Also while I'm on the topic of middle evolutions that make me cry tears of sadness when I see their evolutions- **** you Braixen.

This DID just remind me that as much as I like Ice Table, I am not all that fond of Avalugg's Hisuian form.

Like its design is just kinda wack to me (there's a time and a place for lantern jaws like that), and as much as I like the Rock type, it should be kept as far away from the Ice type as possible. Like Gamefreak didn't need to do my table boy like that...no small wonder Hisuian Avalugg went extinct in Sinnoh, aka the place where Lucario evolved.

The thing that makes me more fond of OG Avalugg is that, with those immense physical defences, it can probably survive most physical damage, which is good because Rock, Fighting and Steel are typically more physical types. Though that said it does have its counters, usually fire types. But I'd still make room for it on my team, but that's probably just my overall positivity for Kalos' roster talking (also I like it much more than its fellow Kalos Ice type Aurorus tbh)

Counter-argument, grass types

Maybe it's just my bias cuz flowers are one of my special interests and my favorite Pokemon is a grass type, but grass is definitely my favorite of the starting triad, and it has a LOT of pretty mons. And if a grass mon isn't pretty, it's typically because it's cool instead. And there's a lot of them that manage to do BOTH (Meganium my beloved)

I joke about, and genuinelly do want, Legends Z-A news, but come to think of it this is what I asked for.

I mean I'm happy about waiting and not hearing a peep about it but man Pokemon spoiled me with constant news stream every single year.

With that said, given that we haven't seen gameplay at all, I bet it's the fall release. My guess is that it's been in development since Legends Arceus went Gold (so fall-winter 2021), and it's been all hands on deck since mid 2023 (when SV's DLC went gold).

I think it says a lot about Ice when all Ice-types in the first two gens had an extra typing on top of it.

Also I'd say my least favorite type is Fire, probably because I didn't have a fire starter that interested me more than the water one until Gen 8 and I don't wanna play SwSh.
