Did anyone accurately predict Z-A’s starters
I was predicting Snivy, Scorbunny, and Totodile. I had :158: instead of Piplup because I knew they wouldn't give us the exact trio we were expecting, and it's impossible to make Empoleon more French so it was the easiest to drop.

I just underestimated how much they were going throw us for a loop I suppose.

Reflecting on our first look at Z-A over 24 hours later:

. It was a solid trailer. Thing is, the year long wait resulted in many of us having crazy high expectations that never would've been met. Not in a reveal trailer, at least. It was meant to serve as an introduction to the game, not blow our freaking minds. Not to say it was perfect and there was nothing more they could've shown us, but I think a lot of us just wanted to see more out of the gate. More than they were ever gonna show here.

. The starter selection still feels a bit odd, especially with two starters from the same region, but I'm a more open to them than I was initially. With new regional forms and/or Megas, this could be a chance for some unpopular Pokemon to find a new audience, and maybe competitive relevance. Last time around it was three decently popular picks getting even more attention, so I guess there's nothing wrong with shaking things up sometimes. I still have to wait to see final evos because I'm not crazy about any of this trio, but the Unova child in me has won. Until further notice I'm team Tepig.

. They showed off a lot of cool stuff, but they didn't present it in a super-crazy-exciting way. This wasn't an in your face kinda trailer, a lot of the concepts had to grow on you. But now that they have I'm really intrigued. The parkour has a lot of potential, and the real time battles especially I can't wait to try out.

. Perhaps the biggest omission that resulted in the lack of immediate hype was the absence of any new designs. New regional variants, new Mega Evos, or a flat out new Pokemon. That's the stuff that gets us really excited, and there wasn't anything. However, after looking back I realized that this trailer was very similar to Legends Arceus' initial trailer, and they didn't have any new Pokemon there either. It's obviously coming, but not seeing any new creatures here contributed to the general whelmed feeling a lot of us experienced.

. This game is straight up XY2. I feel like some of us missed this amid frantic questions about the presence of Chikorita, but this game is as much XY2 as it is the long awaited Z version. And it's a Legends game, it won't have the standard "get the badges beat the champion" story, but something entirely different that still builds on the themes and characters of XY. That's freaking awesome, dude! What's everyone up to? Did Lysandre survive? Are we gonna meet the player characters? So many questions!

In summary, Legends Z-A made an ever-so slightly underwhelming first impression after a year of unrestrained hype, but there's a lot of potential here. I mentioned yesterday that I went from "ridiculously hyped" to "wait and see", but after ruminating on it I think I've levelled out at "Interested, and excited for the possibilities".

That second trailer better be nuts though. I'm talking a ton of new Megas :101:

I caught the 5 Genesect in Go and none of them were the cool red shiny :drsad:

at least I got free Genesect though, I went from no Genesect to 5 xD

now I just need Marshadow, Diancie, and Magearna for mythicals I’m missing. I think I have a Magearna in the original Moon thanks to the QR code thing but I gotta find it and check later, plus I guess I can get another one in Ultra Moon the same way :p

you think this weird flying battles will be back in legends za?
Probably not? If the entire game's being set in Lumiose City, the Flying Battles took place in more cliff or open-air like areas. We're not even sure how many trainers will be in the game aside from the rival and the brief cameo of hagHex Maniac.

Dragon Ball Daima ended.

They just don't give a **** about continuity anymore lol. It was a fine ending though. The final fight in particular is probably one of the coolest sequences in the franchise and SSJ4 Goku is badass.

Ngl, this may be me having very little PokeFriends irl, but I legit prefer if Pokemon focused primarily on the single player experience from here on out.

I get the community is the biggest strength of the games (and yeah don't get rid of trades and battling) but idk just think it's better as a solo game.
In single player focused games they're allowed to try new things.

Outside of le gimmicks and shaking up the world structure, mainline Pokemon games have played their cards to their chest for soo long, even when they feel slightly different, like Gen 7 with the trials, Gen 8 with the Wild Area, and all of Gen 9. So when you get something like Colliseum/XD, or PLA/Z-A, it's such a breath of fresh air compared to what we're used to.

Just more options for single player would be great, really.

Put items like the Link Cable in the main games, just make them a bit rarer to obtain. It'd be easier to link up with other players, but the option is there if you want to go solo.

Also for the love of god please patch your games and have a level of consistency.

Like, props to them for.....trying with Scar/Vio, but the games are still not in a great state bug/performance wise all things considered.

And no one can convince me otherwise that Stantler's evolution isn't just broken because they didn't update it for HOME support... which they did for Hisuian Qwilfish but not it.

SwSh was a stable game, but very boring, samey, and uninspiring. Also Ugly.

SV was very fun and fresh game that I adore, except it's unstable as all hell and I swear my Switch was gonna explode. Also... a mixed bag in terms of visuals.

Can Z-A be that middle ground (it won't)

Sure he’s not a lizard but he is reptilian and his shiny colors look pretty spot on for this already.

So was Ultra Vegeta 1. Do wish there was a touch more Gohan sprinkled in somehow, but I’m a biased Gohan fan so yuppers. That aside, I enjoyed most of Daima, but especially loved the show once it picked up the momentum.

now to pray we get the Galactic Patrol Prisoner and Granolah sagas get an anime adaptation

What a *load of *.
I thought one got Melmetal via Home gift the first time a Mon is transferred in from Go?

Or are you trying to get a Melmetal evolved in Go?

I'm wondering if any of the Pokemon I frequently use will finally get some buffs or notable changes. I'm in the camp that's been wanting Luxray to become an Electric/Dark-type for a while or to otherwise get some buffs in general. If none of my other favorite 'Mons get nerfed, then I think I'm set.

As for singleplayer content, I just hope that the story is good. :4larry:

Kinda wonder what I'm gonna do with the 3 Genesect that I don't necessarily 'need'.

Can't bring them into Gen 9 or anything.

There seems to be some verticality in that you can go up on the rooftops, so theoretically, they could have some sky trainers posted up there. That being said, they're probably not going to bring back sky battles.

Luxray and Ledian are two big ones I'm holding out for. I've seen a few concepts for a zero-to-hero Ledian that I've quite liked, actually.

I wonder what the gates to progression for the story will be.(I.E the gyms/noble pokemon/Totem pokemon of this game). Seems like they might be exhibition matches of some sort, judging by the end of the trailer?

I'd offer to trade for one of them if I had any Pokemon either worth trading or that I was willing to part with.

But I've literally only ever caught one Shiny (that I can recall) and I've so far only made a fraction of progress in ScarVio's story mode. :4larry:

I'm not actually sure how moving Mythicals out of GO even works tbh.

I have a Shaymin in it but every time I try to move it it gives me a big, scary warning of "You can NEVER catch this again on this account, are you SURE???"

I mean, I guess it makes enough sense with Shaymin since IIRC it's usually only obtained as like a gift or part of an event.

But considering the fact that you have tons of extra Genesect, I don't see much reason for the game or the developers to think they should give you a similar warning or issue there. I'm not sure if it would still have that warning. I have yet to play GO and I still can't tell how much of the event was part of the glitch and how much of it were the developers intentionally giving extra 'Mons or rewards in general as compensation for the glitch itself.
