How likely do you think we'll see a big new IP at the Switch 2 Direct?
Pretty likely. It’s a new system, they’ll want to show off something new and shiny that makes use of the system’s gimmicks.

The Switch had 1-2 Switch. The Wii launched with Wii Sports. Even the Wii U had Nintendo Land.

Probably at least one. Wii U had Nintendo Land attempting to be a thing. Wii had Wii Sports, Switch 1 had ARMS. So it makes sense.

The real question is if it'll catch on in any meaningful way.

not Max cutting both Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost
The reason Max cut Looney Tunes (and dropped Sesame Street) from what I’ve read is that they will no longer focus on children’s programming, instead focusing on Adult and Family programs.

Honestly one of the better Funkos I’ve seen.

It just looks like Greninja with blacked out eyes. I was expected a square-headed abomination.
It is one of the better Funko pops out there, yes.

But it's still a funko pop, and of one of my favorite fictional characters ever no less, so I hate it on principal

I'm unable to come up with what game to play while at home so I made a strawpoll, I woukd appreciate it if anyone would fill it out, even if I doubt a lot of people are familiar with a good chunk of this lol

Low but not impossible. I think there's a chance that, say, EPD 5 does something new instead of Splatoon 4 or a new Animal Crossing, or a third party unveils something new at the Switch direct (like Octopath).

Something weird like 1-2 Switch is almost guaranteed, but i would hesitate to call that a major IP.

I'm not in a position to be anti-Funko Pop. If I ever want Steven Universe merch, a Funko is basically my only option. It's a curse...

Tubi has been growing so much in these past few years that I would not be surprised if this free to watch app suddenly got a paywall.
Maybe. It's not totally out of the question. But Tubi's main thing is having a lot of "DANK" stuff you can't get much of anywhere else. Like it's the only place that streams Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or Producing Parker in the US as far as I know. It's also got a lot of indie films, particularly Black Indie films. So they aren't totally reliant on mainstream works the same way most of the major streaming services are. So imagine that'll be something to keep in mind.

They also run ads on Tubi, so unless they want to go adless, they'll probably stay free for now.

They have all the slop and shovelware movies. The other night I watched a muppet cop flick.

It wasn’t even half bad.

We need someone to be the new version of PBS or other public channel stuff.

There is precedence for that, how Tubi works now is how Hulu worked once upon a time.

And then they added a subscription to remove ads and gain access to more shows/movies.

And now a subscription is required to watch anything on Hulu.

That said, Tubi going down the same route would have some issues, like how there are shows on it that have been legally, permanently, rereleased for free on several services, like the Virtua Fighter anime.

Day 16: TWEWY and NEO TWEWY
neo-twewy-localization.png

Once upon a time, a young kid was reading a gaming magazine and saw a game that looked like nothing else, it had this very unique look, including a hero with ginger hair which she never saw before and a title that never left her mind, The World Ends With You. Years later, she'd have a Switch and saw the game from that magazine was available and as an adult, chose to buy it to see if it was as cool as she hoped it was as a kid... TWEWY and it's sequel are both incredible games that scratch an itch that I never really see in many other spaces, being a JRPG that's in a more modern setting, the original being a mid to late 2000's setting and NEO TWEWY being the late 2010's the youth culture felt very nostalgic when I played the Switch version of the original. The controls were terrible, joycon and touch screen only with the former constantly needing to be recentered but the vibes were absolutely incredible. Neku is an antisocial asshole but his growth is incredible with the writing being easy to understand on a surface level while also having a fair bit of depth that can be analyzed. The music really sells the vibes with a genuine top tier OST, probably being one of my favourite soundtracks from a video game. My one gripe with the original beyond the crap controls is something with Shiki and Neku feeling like it shouldn't get sidelined but beyond that, I found the cast to be incredibly memorable! Now, the sequel has a mostly different cast so they had big shoes to fill but honestly, they're all fantastic while feeling different enough from the first game! Hell, a friend of mine even managed to score me a chance to get an autograph from Paul Castro Jr, voice of Rindo. Which leads into another thing, the voice acting is incredible! No bad performances in either game! Another cool thing about the sequel is that the gameplay is actually really cool unlike the first game's Switch port with the performance being genuinely good beyond 1 issue with lag which is only in selective circumstances. These cult classics are well worth your time and they also go on sale enough to justify getting your hands on them!

They probably regretting turning Max into an all WB streaming service instead of keeping it within the HBO banner at this point. Having more adult and family content instead of something for everyone is kinda goofy…tho if they keep Crashbox we good

They could easily remove that stuff though. I feel like it’ll happen, especially since they’re trying to produce their own shows now.

Day 15: Ghost Trick
View attachment 400156

Play Ghost Trick. Now.

In all seriousness, Ghost Trick is such a classic that it's hard to try and find faults to be '''''objective''''' with it as everything in this game is so neatly put together that it makes for an incredibly charming story. You play as Sissel, who is Sissel? We don't know! But this redhead's in danger and she might have answers! As a ghost, Sissel can possess ordinary items and perform Ghost Tricks to manipulate them. This sounds mundane but the way it works is genuinely fun and the mysteries you come across and solve are fantastic. This game is written by Shu Takumi of Ace Attorney fame and man, this kooky cast is infinitely charming and the music? Good god, the music. I've never seen anyone have anything even remotely bad to say about this game, it's just so neatly put together. You really should play it to see for yourself

ALSO THERE IS A DOG AND I ACTUALLY LIKE HIM WHAT THE **** DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO DO THAT
Ghost Trick mentioned?

Fantastic game, was really impressed how they ported it to modern systems without the dual screens too. Such a unique and memorable experience!

Arghhh I almost used that very pic for the post lmao. Game is genuinely one of the greats and I'm glad the rerelease got more people to experience it

I'd personally rather have no merch of my favorite franchise if my only options were Funko Pops. Maybe I'm saying this out of privilege cause most of my favorite franchises have an abundance of action figures but like, I wouldn't be collecting said action figures if they didn't look good.

And I'm pretty sure you can commission toy customizers to make actually good Steven Universe figures for you, I get the appeal of supporting your favorite franchise by buying official merch but if your only option for that is Funko Pops, then that's on the IP owner for not making good merch.

I just beat Mario & Luigi: Brothership. An absolutely fantastic game. Great gameplay, lovable characters, and I was a huge fan of Kevin Afghani's performance.

As for the story:

1742242251964.png

Especially the second half of the story. It's been years since a game had me literally at the edge of my seat dying to know what is going to happen next. The further into the story, the more the antagonist's threat grew and it got me hooked. Great ending too (I actually cried a little bit then).

:ultmario: :ultluigi:

Now to decide which game in backlog to go back to.

Who predicted Disney making a documentary on A Goofy Movie?

You win, because that’s what’s releasing next month.

Edit: Turns out this came out last year. Disney is putting it on Disney+ next month.
When they're gonna add Walt Before Mickey? (even thou, that one wasn't made by Disney)

Rumor: Metroid Prime 4 Beyond is rumored to show up in the Switch 2 Direct and will "blow everything else out of the water"

Our last piece of news on the game was all the way back in June and that trailer really felt like just a tiny teaser if anything so I can believe it.

Now it won't look like a Halo 4 mod I hope
