What exact examples are you referring to here? A lot of genres from as far back as the Atari have evolved but they all still hold the core of their origins intact.
I don’t see a lot of it actually happening. It’s just mostly in how people talk about older series and genres, both fans and executives, and newer series now.

Like, I’m listening to the Kongversation and the talk about how rare needed to make a game like Sea of Thieves to “appeal to modern gaming sensibilities” and I think that’s just a load of ****.

Please end my suffering
I was watching DNO play a bunch of fighting games that have guys that are Basket Ball Fighters. Obviously I knew about Lucky Glauber from KOF, but I learned about Shadow Fighter, an Italian fighting game from the 90's with a lot of Club sounding music in it. And the Korean fighting game Fight Fever has a dude called Magic Dunker. There's also a guy who looks like a Jason dressed up as Guile.

Ok. Who allowed me to miss the fact that Jet Force Gemini, Cobra Triangle, PERFECT DARK, Solar Jetman, and BATTLETOADS/DOUBLE DRAGON were all on NSO?!?

I’ve been complaining about not getting rare games, I was under the impression that banjo-topic was the first one we’d gotten since that batch of 5 that came out in February. Who let me miss this!?!
Blame not others for your own ignorance. I mostly go back to Killer Instinct on SNES as it is, since we don't have the N64/GBA upgrade of the NSO.

I mean fair. But when I then come on here and vocally complain about it wouldn’t it make sense to correct me?

People probably assume that everyone here looks into the NSO stuff as is, and that the Rare games that they have now wouldn't outright interest you given the complaints. But it's not the easiest thing in the world to keep track of at all times anyway, so it's no big deal.

Avengers doomsday has Ian Mckellan, Patrick Stewart, Kelsey grammar, and Allan *******.

I did not expect to see several X-Men together like this before Secret Wars, but this could be fire.

EDIT: LMFAO they censored Allan’s last name
Which is weird because Jim Cummings doesn't have this issue.

Eh, they kinda have a point there. Since Rare was saddled with Kinect for so long they really did need something to get their name the credibility they lost. Microsoft might've saw them as sunken cost and cut their losses and closed them if SoT didn't succeed like it did. They needed to appeal to a new demographic, although I don't think SoT is that different of a demographic from their usual. They're games after the acquisition didn't sell BAD necessarily but Microsoft certainly weren't recouping the $375 Million they had spent on the company.

9/11 for White Dudes in Ohio LARPing as Japanese People
I'm not the biggest fan of Kamiya's attitude, but seeing that power aimed at ****ty people is fine by me.

He also was involved in making Rodin so I dunno what they were expecting.

******* is bad cause it's only once.

Cummings is cool cause two or more people are doing it. I think that's how that works. Gotta be an attentive partner ya see.

Is the MCU worth catching up to for at least up to Endgame?

The only MCU movies I've watched are all three Guardians of the Galaxy films and the first two Iron Man films. I just wasn't that interested in trying to keep up with all the films for continuity and all the crossovers over the years.
Spider-Man content across both movies and shows are worth watching (heck Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man creates its own MCU timeline just to avoid the Sony restrictions had), same with Daredevil overall. Don’t really need to watch projects outside of their specific section of the world to understand their context. Same with GOTG’s Christmas special and Vol. 3.

That’s fair I guess. I’m honestly just bummed I missed out on their announcements because any Rare games getting on NSO is a good thing.

I mean…. but did that have to mean they had to make an always online live service open world pirate mmo with a heavy pvp emphasis? I’m not saying they had to make a new banjo, I kind of agree they needed something to put them back on the map. It’s just… why did “appealing to modern sensibilities” mean embracing so many of the worst aspects of modern gaming.

And I mean it’s not like everwild is looking much better based on what we know of it.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe Booster Course Pass confirmed
Honestly, my hope would be a brand new IP from him.......... or a sequel for Kid Icarus Uprising.

Uprising was SUCH a good game and showed how crazy reinventing a dead IP could be, but all he's really done recently is Smash. Let the man cook. Let him reinvent a dead Nintendo IP and give it the love and care he gave Uprising.

I’m kind of meming. Even if I do kind of want the Ultimate Season 3 we never got but should have.

But yeah a port of Uprising would be good. Or something new from the guy. Idk. He makes good games but like… idk he’s always kind of surreal and out there (the dialogue and items in uprising do not stick to the Ancient Greece time period at all) so it’s never gonna be my exact favorite thing unless he’s doing something inherently meta like Smash Bros. But I would like to see what he could do next.

In his Kid Icarus game dev vlogs, he would say things like "man, it sure would be nice if someone ports the game".

It'll probably lead nowhere and KI fans will be having blue balls for eternity.

To be fair, neither did the original Kid Icarus. Remember, Eggplant Wizard was the most recognizable thing from the OG Kid Icarus and I don't think anyone thinks of "Eggplant" when they think of ancient Greece.

Oh boy Sakurai retweeted the Direct news with "Hoho"

Santa Claus for Smash confirmed.
I get "Oh, I see" when I translate his tweet

Reminder that Nintendo doesn't allow Twitter accounts associated with a Direct to tease its contents beforehand.

I mean yeah but it’s not a weird thing to exist in that timeline. It’s not like in uprising where Palutena says she has a coupon for a pizza place.

They just swung over to Onett and got an Eagleland Pizza, no biggie. :nifty:
I don’t know how to deal with this. I feel like I should say something but I don’t know how to respond to a joke other than either making my own retaliatory joke (which I can’t think of one right now) or just letting the laugh track play and responding like it was a normal sentence like I’m on a sitcom. I don’t… I can’t…. LINE!
