That’s possible, because he is just a recolored Yoshi with accessories. I don’t know if him having a unique name and character in the game he’s from would distinguish him as such and thus require licensing.

Either way I think the success and remake of Mario RPG gave them the idea for this.

I'm still elated that Cataquacks are returning to the Mario series after what, over a decade? Let alone that one is actually freaking playable, now.

They're some of my favorite Mario enemies, lesser or known or otherwise. Far as I'm concerned, they were overdue for another appearance, and they're getting some time in the spotlight as a playable character to top it off! It's a small thing, but all of that genuinely makes me happy. Same goes for tons of other Mario enemies and side characters getting the chance to be playable as well.

What really stands out to me about the new DK game is just how fast-paced and action packed it seems, but also how powerful DK is going to feel. It's like they took the Bowser segment from Odyssey and made a whole game around it, but decided that DK made more sense as the hero then the turtle (in fact I bet that's what happened).

I'm concerned about the game pricing, but less so about the number of games. Even if this was almost everything Nintendo and a handful of other companies have to offer this year, it'd still be a pretty good launch year for a console releasing in June if the game releases were spread out just enough.

I don't know, maybe I'm just used to not completing games very frequently anymore due a combination of my more limited spare time and my habit of more frequently playing online multiplayer games instead lmao.

Yeah that's well worth the price considering you're effectively getting 7 Indie games in one package.

Finally caught up but here are my Direct thoughts:

• Mario Kart World made a SIGNIFICANT jump for a sequel and looks beautiful!
• Game Chat looks great
• Welcome Tour feels like it should be a pack-in but not liking that it isn't (and I'm struggling to believe that this might be the NSO Playtest Program)
• Street Fighter 6 is getting THREE amiibo?? And I think it's a safe bet that the & amiibo will work with it too.
• EA's only announcements being the same old damn sports games is a snorefest but I can't say I'm surprised one bit
• I'm happy that Nintendo didn't make a new tier for NSO for GameCube
• Well, we got our answer to if we are getting Wind Waker HD (Twilight Princess might have the same fate too for all we know)
• ****ING SOULCALIBUR II AND ORRE POKéMON GAMES!!! LET'S GO!!!
• I want the GameCube controller but I really bet it'll be impossible to grab one for a long amount of time. I'll just use the PowerA one and GC adapter until then
• The button mapping feature on GameCube NSO gives me hope that the other NSO consoles will get it too (I'm looking at you, N64 and Genesis...)
• Massive Hero Soccer Guy's project is a Kirby Air Ride sequel? Not expected but cool (I'm sure it's safe to say the original will come to NSO some day)
• Donkey Kong Bananza looks AMZAZING
• Super Mario Sunshine port being our only 3D Mario news is a big lol

It was AWESOME! Really looking forward to the Switch 2 now!

Had the day off for PTO, but I decided to sleep in anyway. General thoughts:

The new system seems really clean. I think the price will probably deter some from launch. The cheaper region-locked one in Japan is a little odd, but whether that's due to the weak Yen or the Trump Consumer Tax remains to be seen and I doubt Nintendo will comment on it either way.

I am sold, I'll probably wait until Z-A gets a release date, but the system launch is really looking good so far. We still don't even know the big Holiday title for this year, which no offense to Kirby fans, I doubt is the new Air Ride. Kirby sells, but it's no Mario/Zelda/Pokemon, and it's going to have hard competition from Mario Kart especially with it's open-world mode potentially being comparable to City Trial.

Mario Kart World looks solid, though it still has a lot of prove to live up to MK8D. Still the giant roster and new mechanics such as Wall Jumps(!?) seem really cool. Hopefully there will be a lot to go in the Open World. The new mode that slowly eliminates racers reminds me of how a lot of older racing titles worked, including the original Mario Racing games on the Disk System; albeit being focused on number of racers rather than a specific time goal.

I kind of want to go through all of the reaction videos to see who was thinking Mario Odyssey 2 on the DK reveal. Definitely seems to be in-house Japan and a July release is really surprising. I wonder if they might have a Diddy Kong DLC campaign...? lol

No Kirby footage, but it's releasing in 2025...

I have no idea what the Kirby news means for Smash. Given the major updates to Mario Party/Forgotten Land, I would still currently bet on an enhanced version of Ultimate with a Challengers Pass 3 or an extra new mode or two being more likely than a new game, but it really just depends on how far in development Air Riders is and post launch plans.

Forgotten Land getting DLC is kind of surprising as normally Kirby is saved as one of the final titles for most Nintendo systems.

Path of Radiance coming to Switch Online! Still the best FE game IMO. I wonder if it'll effect aftermarket prices like Earthbound's re-release did initially before shooting back up? Hopefully Colosseum/XD will have Home support and see their aftermarket prices go down as well.

Soul Calibur 2 getting a re-release is nice and all, but it still kind of sucks that Nintendo didn't hop on the previous re-release for the Wii U so that all 3 guest fighters were all together. It's hilarious to me that the original Wind Waker and not HD is getting a re-release.

Street Fighter 6 being downloadable only sucks. Hopefully the eventually "Super" version of the game gets a physical release. The new Amiibo/Cards and some of the new modes sound like fun though.

I have zero-interest, but NS2 getting an exclusive title From Software is a big deal that isn't lost on me.

Plus give mouse support to Mario Maker 2, Prime 1, and Splatoon 2/3. Am also now betting on Kirby & The Rainbow Curse getting an eventual port.
