It’s not a big deal tbh. Kirby Air ride is one of the lesser known and lesser cared about Kirby spin offs.

It wasn't a critical darling, sure, but Air Ride is definitely beloved among the Kirby fandom. A new entry has been requested for years.

Also, calling it "lesser known" and "lesser cared about" is pretty damn ignorant and disingenuous when **** like Block Ball, Pinball Land, Mass Attack, and the Canvas games exist.

Watching older bits of the stream since I slept through some of the kart and Kong stuff.

So what this whole “interconnected world” thing really amounts to is having 8 races per cup instead of 4 with half of them being like Mount Wario and Big Blue where instead of looping you progress from section to section and those ones are less themed and less interesting because they have to transition from one themed track into another… idk it still feels like padding to me.

Edit: wait I think I miss understood what I was seeing…. How are you supposed to know when you’re actually on the track. I gotta watch that again cause like when did the actual track start?

Ok so I was wrong about how I thought the system worked but now, unless I’m mistaken again, it looks like after the first track you only get one lap on the actual track with the other two laps being transition roads. Which like… that’s lame. How can you not feel robbed by that?

Edit: wait Crown City only got one lap in the actual city but Whistle-stop Summit gets 2? This is inconsistent and I don’t like it just make a normal Mario kart

Ok seriously what is supposed to be the actual track and what is the filler!?! I can’t tell just from watching them play and there’s no real clear distinction between them and it’s making my brain hurt.

I wasn’t paying very much attention tbh but I swear they went over the whole map in Welcome Tour and showed nothing that justifies it costing money, I don’t understand what Nintendo was thinking with this thing. It’s just a basic tech demo with basic minigames. (edit: nevermind, I guess they never checked out what was on the right joycon, but still! Why does it cost money?)

DK and Kart World look cool though.

You know in retrospect a game like this that's all about DK being strong really showcases how redundant Chunky Kong was in function.

And OK the more I see of it the less I dislike about it, it does look kinda fun. And hey, Odyssey had the retro Nintendo 64 costume so... maybe if this game has costumes I can still play with Rare's DK design even if it's like... a pixelated 3D render or a 64-bit model.

Yeah, Chunky and Tiny were pretty redundant. Tiny less so, cause Shrinking could have been her thing entirely, while Dixie was the flyer.

I'll forgive Kiddy if he does just turn into Broly Kong though.
