I saw people talk about Conker all the time, but very rarely did they ever talk about anything other than the fact that these cartoons are gasp saying swear words

I played BFD largely with a friend and the entire time I was basically saying “this is interesting but I wish there was a standard gameplay loop” be it combat or platforming or both. Conker needed to be more than just a parade of scenes and mush-mashed gameplay styles.

Honestly though, is is funny how so many Nintentubers paraded the N64 as the magnum opus of the company. Was it innovative? Sure. Did it have good games? Also yes.

Did it also expose them for being antiquated and stubborn, opening the floodgates to them getting shredded in the console market, with the loss of key third party support that lasted for decades? Indeed it did.

It was also worse than the SNES and Gamecube, the predecessor and successor. Both had far better libraries and a controller that didn't require a third hand

I was never crazy about Conker either. It’s funny, but it isn’t that funny. Most of its novelty comes from the meta angle of Rare’s last big game on the N64, which revolutionized the 3D platformer, being a piss take on the genre.

I’m glad the game is how it is though. I feel like the original version would’ve been forgettable in the grand scheme. At least Bad Fur Day has a place in history as one of the weirdest games to touch Nintendo hardware.

Society if Nintendo Youtubers realized Killer Instinct was the better Rare series over Midker. (Fulgore would've been in Smash alongside Banjo-Kazooie)

Some games in the last Xbox Game Showcase said are coming to PS5. Not too farfetched.

Don't forget that Microsoft is very open to putting their games on other platforms plus there are rumors that games like Halo collection and Forza coming to Switch 2.

I would only expect that in the sense that Microsoft has practically given up on being competitive with Sony and Nintendo, so whatever they show off is probably gonna have a Non-X-Box port after a few months. South of Midnight JUST dropped, but there wasn't much build up for it, but I hope it's good and does well enough at least. Hell, port that over too like they did Indiana Jones.

I heard that the game didn’t really sell compared to lot of the other Rare games at the time. Wikipedia mentions that it sold only 50K in its first month (some say that’s the all time but that’s actually false).

Also there was an obscure Conker game on GBC called Conker's Pocket Tales.

Yeah, Conker bombed when it came out. Nintendo was just not marketing the game at all because they did not like an M rated platformer that looked like it was for kids back during the N64 days.
Nowadays I feel like Conker's Bad Fur Day is tame when it comes to M rated games. Other M rated games have more swearing and violence, and most of the sexual content in Conker's Bad Fur Day is more implied (like the Bee pollinating the sunflower offscreen) rather then explicit. Gaming's changed a lot in the past 24 years.
