They still should canonize it. So many great fan concepts have been made.

It be darker lore sure, but it being what happens to a pokemon left in a pokeball for too long would be such a cool Easter egg and pokemon concept.
Even if you like drop the L shape, but instead use the ghost form but make it more glitchy.

Would love to see Gamefreak attempt it.
