This time? Online. Online pre-orders begin well before offline preorders do in almost every store.

Some ***** on twitter got me confused. If i preorder via gamestop site, do I go in to pick the thing up, do they ship or do they not do that?

You usually have an option. If you do, always choose store. It’s the only place that can guarantee it for launch day.

If Episode 3 was actually made then it would probably include Knuckles since Sonic 4 follows the trend from the original Genesis/Mega Drive games.

Guess I’m buying from Target or something

To provide the times for US Switch 2 preorders:

• Walmart starts preorders at 12am EST on the 24th
• Target also starts preorders at 12am EST on the 24th
• GameStop starts online preorders at 11am EST with in-store preorders beginning when stores open. Physical stores will have a separate allotment of consoles, though we don't know exactly how many consoles physical stores will get.
• Best Buy is currently unconfirmed, but some sales reps have reported that Best Buy will start pre-orders at 12am. Whether this is EST or CT (which Best Buy has been known to operate on) is currently unknown.

We'll likely get reports on the allotment of consoles to GameStop stores and Best Buy's pre-orders in the next two days or so.

Best Buy sells USB sticks with Windows installers on them, at least.

I was today years old when I learned that a lot of modern computers don't even have disc drives anymore.

The consoles still have them or at least as a separate version but they are getting phased out such as with the PS5 Pro having it as an optional attachment.

If physical media gone from consoles completely then Nintendo is probably the most impacted since there are lot of regions without the eShop. The result is that the theoretical fully digital console would be useless in some places if the people using it doesn’t know about switching account regions.

Not sure if Virtual Game cards need the eShop.
