No character in the game, on their own, is technically any better than any other character. What matters is the player controlling that character.

Example, Gimpyfish and Bowser. Most people would have assumed Bowser to be one of the worse characters in Melee, yet Gimpyfish is quite possibly one of the best players there are when he uses Bowser, and probably when he uses anybody else. This proves that Bowser isnt actually any worse than any other character, or better for that matter, because its the player who makes the difference. Why may people have assumed Bowser to be worse in the first place? Who knows. Maybe its because people arent very good with Bowser so they naturally assume him to be a bad character, I dont know. Ive heard it said that Bowser was one of the worst characters in Melee, yet Gimpyfish used him to an incredible standard.

Yes, Gimpyfish is good with Bowser. But you also just said he's probably just as good with anyone else. So no, that doesn't prove at all that Bowser isn't worse. It just proves that he's a very good player.

Half of what you said made sense, and the other half kind of argued with the rest of what you said.

But overall, yes I agree that it is the player that makes the difference. But to say all characters are perfectly equal is rediculous. But to say a single character has no chance of winning, is also rediculous.

There are some characters that are worse than others, and some that are better than others. There is no equality, but there is nothing excluding a crappy character from winning if the player is good enough. How good "good enough" is...depends.

Some characters just suck because of priority, speed, recovery, hitboxes, etc.
Making a 100% balanced game is virtually impossible, especially if you do it in the way that brawl was developed. End of story.

Well, TC does kind of have a point. Comfort should come first in a main, and if you're most comfortable with Falcon, you should use him.

Although Gimpyfish is very well known for his bowser play, he is not actually one of the best players out there. I believe that he was not anywhere near the top as far as skill went in melee, considering that he never won a big tournament.
