One of my closest friends has been an Ike main since Brawl came out, and I've always enjoyed playing against him. My Peach was always slightly ahead of his Ike, but recently he's been giving me some problems. I think it's really important to be out of his range, so I used to float above his head like this a lot:

I don't know why he didn't think of it before, but now he jumps and hits with Quick Draw. That really hurts my strategy, because now I'm forced to float higher (I can't approach him easily) or stay on the ground, where I'm badly affected by his great range, and specially his Neutral A combo. Now it's kind of hard for me to land attacks, and spamming turnips is risky, because he can catch them mid air and hit me with a Fair instantly. Our matches are still very close, but it's way harder for me to win, so any tips would be really helpful ^^ Is there a way to avoid Quick Draw efficiently? Is there a way to edgehog Aether? Thanks in advance!

simply dodge it and he'll still swing, hit him after that because theres a lot of lag after ike swings his sword
Im not a peach main but im looking into her, she seems fun :p

lol I just played an Ike like five secs ago.
My strategy is too float at a distance and wait for him to approach with an attack
then when Ike's Lag kicks in, I dair him quite a few times (like 2-3) then i stay on him
You can also approach nicely with the glide toss but
as soon as you make him on him try to stay very aggressive

I hope that helps

the way i beat ikes is sence he has slow attacks, they can be toaded pretty easily. and sence ike has no projectile attacks, outcamp him with turnips and advance with glide tosses. so overall just punish with glide toss and spaced dairs (watch out for the usmash and utilt) just out camp and punish ^.^

I think using Toad in this matchup would be better than in others. But my main strategy is jump floating at head level and spam dair. At low percents you could surprise him with a dair to Niko Combo (FTW). If he tries to quick draw you while you float just dodge and punish, because he has a lot of lag after that. I've never really cared about people grabbing my turnips, maybe I haven't faced anyone who does that efficiently.

when fighting ike remember one thing .......Dont Get Hit
all of his move are easily predicted just go into training mode and learn all of his moves so you can better predict them because of no ability to combo (besides his three hit combo jab lol) if u just play defensively you should win because if u play defensively that negates counter's powers that being his one unpredictable attack and you win 8D

I'm not sure, But I think toad might help with yout Aether problem. It may not hit him (although probably will) you still wont take any damage. Also, if he's grabbing onto the edge, use toad then, if he attacks as he gets up, he will be blasted back.

Although this is pretty risky for Peach against Ike, try and wait for him to do one of his attacks, dodge, and then do f-tilt (Can Can Kick). This should send him up, and if he's at a low enough percentage, he should fall back for and up-tilt, up-smash, or a Peach Bomber, which they usually don't expect, since it takes so long.

Spamming turnips is always fun, especially when they don't expect a Stitchy, Bob-omb or Beam sword (remember to drop it and pick it back up for the proper range)

Try to use Toad if he does his quick draw. Or float off of the side of the arena. If he misjudges it, he may just fall to his death :bee:

Sidestepping his quickdraw will give him punishable lag. Jumping in front of his quickdraw and airdodging will cause him to die when he's trying to recover. If you want to counter quickdraw, bait him into it by floating above his head -- when he tries to counter your float, drop out, air dodge, and punish. (just a thought)

Try a glide toss approach. It should bring you close quickly enough that he won't be able to hit you if you plan it right. Try mixing it up more and learn to take advantage of different openings other than the obvious I-can't-float-but-you-can opening.

Like has been said, if Ike's quick draw is dodged or even blocked, he gets stuck with some of the most end-of-move lag of any character. If you know from experience it's coming, it's not too tough to learn to dodge it. If your friend uses Ike's smashes with any regularity, drop on him from the air as soon as possible and string some quick A moves, juggle him a bit if you can. He's one of the game's more punishable people.

Thanks for all the tips, guys ^^ I haven't been able to play against my friend, but I've Toaded the CPU's Aether, killing at ridiculously low %.

Thanks! this is an awesome idea, he Quick Draws as soon as I float, so I'll definitely try this. Oh, and I made that pic just for explanatory purposes >_<

I know this sounds stupid (since I gave you this advice), but Toading Aether works? Did you figure out the timing - when is it? As he throws his sword up? When he catches it and comes down?

If you do the floating trick off the side, remember to air-dodge, just in case (I don't think you can do it while floating, so prepare for a recovery).

Oh, you REALLY should make more of those pics, they are just amazing :bee:

Yep, it's possible to Toad Aether ^^ Timing is trick, I still get hit sometimes. Ike has to be below the ledge, and you have to press B exactly as soon as he shouts "Aaah!":

When he reaches the ledge, Toad will be waiting for him ^^

Did you do those just for me? I love them - AGAIN. Thanks for the update!!! I shall use this myself. I have a habit of giving people advice that I never try out, coz I tend to make them up on the spot, lol.
