that was a pretty good match but my friend plays way smarter and way more agressive style marth. hes goood trust me im not just saying that to show off or anything. he owned me in melee hes owning me in brawl he dosnt even have the game 0_0. he just watches youtube matches of pro marths and picks up on them and gets better and better.

The principles are the same. Marth's attacks actually have more lag than you'd expect, and Lucario's shield traction is excellent.

If he's really as aggressive as you say, you could probably also afford to use double team more.

SPACING. This is the only thing you have on Marth. Lucario can outrange Marth, if only by a little. If you set up into an Aura Sphere, more power to you. Using AS as an edgeguard can cause Marth to either airdodge or eat the attack, assuming you can predict where they fall. And learn to spotdodge effectively. However, once you start accumulating more damage, Lucario's attacks will have a bigger bite and knockback, which is good since Marth is somewhat light. Just watch out for any vertical kill attempts, since Lucario dies so easily off the top.

QFT.

For reals though. Marth wins by speed and that's a big loss. Your only other plausible approach method would (have been) be aerial approaches (something Ike would do). But your air moves have little range (relative to Marth).

Lucario won't be hitting high percents vs a good Marth.

He is on the light side and Marth can kill a heavy wieght around 90.

So Lucario will be dying around 80 vs a good Marth.

Marth is a tricky character to deal with for any one ( I don't want to go into balance issues because that is a entire rant all together), how ever he can be a even larger challenge for us Lucario players. In my experience playing a good marth in brawl is about ranged and playing defensive. Most times I am not a fan of sitting back and allowing fights to happen, but when fighting a quick sword fighter it is very hard to try and throw in a smash or even a tilt. Besides using the aura ball and reading your opponent I can not think of any brilliant counters to his power.
