If you're new to the boards, you would be best off doing some research before posting more. Not to be rude, but many users will flame you endlessly for not knowing basic terms like tiers. Search it, figure it out.

And i say high tier without any second thoughts or reservations.

Or, you could just answer his question. It's true that some will flame here, but you didn't exactly help him...

i'm really new to these boards, so what do you mean by "tier"
Thanks for asking dude, it's always best to simply ask.

Anyways, simply put, "tiers" are lists based on tourney results that determine who the best characters are. For example, in Melee, Fox was the character winning the most tourneys, so he was at the top of the tier list, and therefore, the "best" character. Mewtwo however, was winning the least tourneys, therefore was at the bottom of the tier list, which is why some consider him the "worst" character. Since tier lists are based on tourney results, it takes at least a year to come up with a tier list, whcih is why Melee has had several and Brawl doesn't have one (yet).

However, tiers have been a controversial topic in the Smash community for years. Some believe that there is no "best" and "worst" character in the game, and that tiers only hinder the competitive scene. Some argue otherwise. It's better to further read into it than to make a judgement now.

Here's a good link if you wanna read about tiers in detail: http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/44016

(note that it's about Melee, but besides the character examples, everything is on point)
(EDIT: Also, the Melee tier list they are using is OUT OF DATE, LOOK AT GENERAL MELEE DISCUSSION for the current tier list)

And now you know, and in this game, knowing is half the battle...

:chuckle:

....Anyways, on the topic, I certainly hope TL doesn't end up high tier. He's already getting whored out now, if he gets high on the tiers, then he may become the Brawl equivalent of Fox in Melee. Now real TL fan wants that.

I would prefer him lower-high/upper-mid, ya know? :)

Tier list discussions are redundant and should be left to BRoomers. Everyone has too many biased opinions that they try and back up off their lack of knowledge of how other characters operate.

Toon Link is definetly top 3. That's something I can assure many of you for right now (along side Snake and Meta).

I could care less about any made-up tier list that people think up. And I care even less about anything that has anything to do with GameFAQs. :urg:

Now that second thread, on the other hand, is quite informative.

I being a TL main think that he should be top but were not playing to his top potential either out of lack of knowledge or lack of discoveries, because TL has great techs and everything but I say give it some time and we might find one more amazing tech that boost our ranking higher( low top tier, top high tier is not bad as he stands now)

I feel like this topic comes up every week.

He'll be somewhere in the top part of high tier. He really is a sick character, and will probably have C. Falcon's melee status on the Brawl tier list.

I think he's definitely high tier, just because he's so quick at racking up damage, incredibly small, very fast, and a good player can put a TON of pressure on the opponent if they use all his projectiles correctly.

as long as hes higher than marth, im happy. no girly boy deserves the tag of best swordsman, that was invented for link!

seriously though, if top tier consists of 5, hes definitely there.

TL will absolutely be a high tier character once the list comes out in a year or so. He has very few bad match-ups, no real counter characters andthe best projectile game in Brawl. Great kill moves and the ability to use everything at his disposal effectively make him an extremely solid character.

Once the list is out, i'm thinking he'll be placed around where we saw Captain Falcon and Peach in Melee.

I personally think R.O.B. has the best projectile game in Brawl, but obviously that's debatable.

The best projectile game would very much fall into either Link's or R.O.B.'s hands, unless you count Falco as having a real "projectile game," in which he would be a candidate as well.

I think tiers are a mixed topic. I hate them because ppl think ur stupid if u do anything lower than mid-hi tier. But I like it because it provides a challenge: When I heard the melee tiers, I worked on Mewtwo. Why? Because he was awesome, and it stretched me and improved me by finding unorthodox strategies that surprised ppl (I still love Mew2's upB, it had a lot of good fakeout techs).
About Toon Link...

He's got some High-tier action going on, but u know, projectile game isn't everything. Plus, he has not so good stuff on the ground.
