# Tourney Experience: Share #

I'm rather unhappy with what happened at my tournament. I attended it a little over an hour ago, and an hour before that to actually show that you're there. I didn't like the 1 minute limit to begin with, but thought there wouldn't be a sudden death.... and of course there was. And then, we found out that the characters were randomized. I fought against a link, and I was kirby. My fiancee was iceclimbers... against.. hell I dont know, it was some little kid who kept trying to run away.
My fight ended up with me being rather baffled at the controls, neither of us dying, and then sudden death; we both charged and his sword reached vastly farther than my ram thing.
Short story shorter: I wish I didn't go. ._.
Edit: No one seemed to be that great to be honest at the game. Maybe one or two, but even then, everyone seemed very new to the game and a lot of silly mistakes were made. Everyone did get along though, and acted sportsmanship-like.

I won my local tournament in the EB at the moorestown mall in new jersey. They gave me a ****ty trophy, but im on 2 the next round. It was random characters on Battlefield and i got pit, who is awsome. Someone on the boards must win. If one of us doesn't then we're disgraced.

On topic: I'm glad that I decided not to go. Random characters, 1 minute matches, items, new controllers? No thanks. I'll stick to driving home and playing my way.
I made it to the second round of the tournament at my gamestop. I was first to play during the first round and I won against somebody who chose Pokemon Trainer. He decided to use Charizard first. He kept on using Rock Smash at me. I dodged and used a Smash Attack on him. I was able to KO him in the last 20 seconds of the match. He then got the smash ball with 8 seconds remaining. I was about 2 feet in front of him and he used it, BUT he turned around right before he used it.:D I then fell into a Smart Bomb which didn't kill me, it just sent me upwards a litttle bit. I was then hit by some Karts. I was playing on the Mario Kart stage. Luckily I survided and I won my first match.
In the Second Round I played against Meta Knight. He ran away most of the time and it went to sudden death. He quickly KOed me.
Meta Knight is freakin fast! His ariel move come out almost istantly!
Anyways I enjoyed my time there. I left as soon as I lost, so I don't know who won.

I haven't actually posted on these boards in a while, although I do visit quite frequently....That aside, I won my local tournament and got my "Smash Bros. - Local Legend of Wreckage" trophy. We had 1 minute 1v1 matches, items didn't seem too bad although they were on, battlefield only, we chose our own characters from the starting roster, and we used Wiimote+Nunchucks. Luckily I was able to get used to the Wiimote+Nunchuck setup rather quickly, even though I probably have less than 15 total hours of overall use with one.
I had never played Brawl and I used Ike. I seemed correct in my assumption that he would do best for me not being allowed to use a GCN controller. I won a few fights, the only ones that I really remember are a Pikachu and my final Sheik fight. The Pikachu fight because it was the only match I suffered a KO in, which I also KO'd the opponent, in which I then won the Sudden Death. The Sheik match I remember because it was the final match, but it went exactly as I expected as I noticed the player liked spamming the Dash Attack(that is how every match I watched of this player ended, Dash Attack in the Sudden Death), so Shield Grabbing won me the final match with no problem.
That is about all I remember of my fights, but I saw a lot of other people winning because their opponent messed up and killed themselves/didn't know how to recover. I actually do not believe I got any fights like that, which actually made me quite happy. I then had to leave preemptive to getting my copy of Brawl, which is a slightly less disappointment due to the lack of Wii ownership. Since I don't own a Wii or Brawl and the end of Spring Break most likely filling me up with college over the next week it is very unlikely that I will be able to attend round 2.
As a side note, something unexpected happened. Only one Pit was selected and one Link, no Metaknights, Snakes, or Sonics. All I saw aside from that were Samus (only Zamus if Smash Ball was used), Pokemon Trainer, Ike (most used new character), Fox, Sheik, and Pikachu. I guess many people had confidence in their previous SSB characters.

Samus, 2 Minute matches, 16 contestants, some good, some really n00bish (one or two didn't even own a Wii), random stages (even some custom stages showed up), got to choose all starting Characters. Tournament started at 7 pm.

Jooce's tournament seemed pretty good. I wish I got one like that. And the dash attack is right for sudden death. I think I was so frustrated/nervous that that was the first thing that came to mind for me.

Yeah, I lost in the second round. I got stuck with Kirby, whom I've never used seriously. My first match was a sudden death with me winning with an NAir, and in the second (also sudden death), the dude used Mario's FAir.
My friends didn't fare well either. Most of them lost in the first round because of the characters they got handed, except for two (one of which was a great Melee player who beat PC Chris one time. I forget his screen name though).
My friends were consistent of people who I had only just met, including a girl who was 13 in line and her boyfriend, and the Melee player and he friend. There was a Smash clan there, too, but I don't know who they were. The leader won the tourney.
Brawl was fun, but my timing was off a bit, so I whiffed a few times. Only one person tripped, and it was on a Banana peel. Items were on, random stages (although I got the Pikmin stage and Battlefield, but the Melee player's friend got DK's stage and died because of it >_>), and random characters. I wanted Ike, and pulled the exact opposite.

So my first match is against another person about my age, actually pretty knowledgeable... Don't remember who he had, but with about 10 seconds left, he had +1 me -1, a smash ball appears... I grab it, call the landmaster with like 5 seconds left and blast him off the screen.

Well, here my story, i wore a sonic hat and a sonic plushie in my pocket and my friends were with me as well. Will the first round consisted of 4 players 3 stock. Well when it was my turn i had to vs my brother that really ticked me off, i wanted to vs him until the finals, but the first match....... Anyways, if my memory was correct I was Lucas, My bro was Pit, Kirby & i Think C.Falcon not sure but i was whopping everyone untill it was bewteen me and my bro. I suppose he let me win since i was Healing my self when he was shooting arrows at me and then i killed him blah blahh blah *tear*
2nd Round i don't remember all i know i wipped everyone i still had 2 lifes while everyone had 1. People where Cheering me on saying GO LUCAS and my full name ....
3rd Round It was the semi finals well it was kind of sad i teamed up with some i just met in the store we made a plan cause these people who were dressed up as Mario & Luigi were really good and i guess i was scared. He'll shoot arrows from the left and i keep spamming PK Fire. Well he was link, but there was someone else who was link so i didnt know what color he was so by accident i was attacking him >.> until he said THATS ME!. Well after me & him killed everyone it was us to left. I had 2 lifes he had one i was in the 109% He was at 60% i beleive. But sadly i killed him with my damage being so high.
Well this was funny the employees kicked everyone out of the store who werent taken place in
4Th Round Finals: It was 1vs1 match and guess what it was one of the store employees! Anyways my friends were Cheering me on, but this dude was a serious nub he kept spamming bombs like mad and kept doing Smash attacks on me o.O and i was getting wooped. But you think that was enough to stop Kiok? NO! I stoped being a idiot and just standing there and went head first to attack him Bombs Thrusted IN THE AIR!!!!!!!!!!111 boom pow~ hit with Lucas air combo he shot and arrow SHINK~ Shield Blocked hit him with my WoodStick knocked him off stage. PK FREEZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FROZE HIM IN MID AIR AND LINK FEEL TO HIS DOOM . OH noez i still have 2 lifes left and i havent lost one. He tires harder and harder, anyways to make a story short i won Didn't even lose a life. Bro went up and hugged me xD. People cheered like mad and i was happy. Got my Stuff Trophy (wrestler), Food (o.O) and super mario galaxy coin (cool i guess?). BUT NO CERTIFICATE?!?!?!? Well she said to call the store and ask to speak to her and of course im going to do that.
Anways thats my Brawl story, cant wait to get to the regionals oh yeah i forgot to tell you i unlocked Lugi, even whats funnier it was a smash ball finish with samus. It was funny hearing all the fanboys screaming.

worst and most failing way to lose: i was doing fine with link and won my first 2 matches....then i play some guy who every1 thought was going to be the winner, we were both link and went to sudden death (he actually knocked me out but the timer ran out as soon as the flashing came) i take my bomb to surprise him fom far away, i trip with the freakin bomb still in my hands and die.

My roommate ended up winning our GS tourney. IT was down to him and another good friend of ours in the final 2. Naturally we had all been playing the Japanese import for about a month now.
Now we have a kick *** wrestling trophy on top of our TV. LOCAL LEGEND OF WRECKAGE
Also, in the match I lost, I almost got an amazing kill by throwing his electrode poke back at him. Would have been the best kill of the tournament

My tournament was actually 3-stock with NO items :O Apparently the manager of the store we went too was into the Melee tourney scene. About 80 people participated and..........
I got 2nd place
I was soooooo close... won my first five matches, lost my sixth to a Lucas. ARGHHHH SCREW YOU LUCAS! He had one stock and was at 70% when I died
I coulda won but the freaking crowd made me nervous!
(I'm not used to tournaments!!) Everyone was cheering Olimar because I was the only Olimar in the whole tournament. I had two little girls cheering "PIKMIN!! PIKMIN!!! THROW YOUR PIKMIN DONT LET THEM DIE!" while I was playing... so cute!
At one point after I beat a Link with my pikmin chain someone else yelled "TASTE THE RAINBOW LINK!!!"
Lucas is forever my mortal enemy Pretty exciting night though :O Playing smash in front of a crowd gives you adrenaline
