In my world (And likely Opossum's) at the very least.

Unlike the other prominent "leak" rosters going around, like the google leak, there's isn't a single character on here that I dislike. Add to the fact that Edelgard and Phoenix Wright are among my most wanted characters, this is a pretty solid list for me, ngl.

While Edelgard and final evolution of Grookey wouldn't be my personal choices, they can still be pretty interesting fighters from seemingly promising games. Phoenix Wright is a VN legend. Erdrick is a RPG legend. There's another Persona character.

My only real gripe with this roster would be 4/5 of them coming from (admittedly diverse) RPGs.

Nobody said they wouldn't buy Nintendo characters. It's just getting new franchises that you wouldn't expect to see in Smash is more exciting to a lot of people.

It's a matter of hype, rather than content quality.

None of the characters on that leak really interest me aside from Erdrick. I guess they could have cool movesets, but based on name alone can't say I would be super excited. You're free to have you own opinion though, we haven't got full 1984 yet.

It depends on WHO the Nintendo characters are, if anything, and quite honestly the barrel's almost run dry, which is why there've been reasonable expectations for the season pass to be all 3rd parties.

If we're looking into the future, Astral Chain characters are Platinum, so that wouldn't work out. Really, in terms of fan favorites in general, you either get Rex & Pyra, Waluigi, Three Houses or Sword/Shield rep, two of which are in limbo and two that are either close/still need more info on since they haven't released. That's kinda where we're at, at the moment.

I'm super late on this, too, so my two cents on this is I don't really buy it. I gotta need some real convincing stuff like the Beta Ken leak or really convincing video before I can truly do a "Critique That Leak" of the sort.

Ultomato's opinion on every character included in DLC leaks so far:
Erdrick: Don't know him but he looks like he'll upset FE haters. 4/10

Doomguy: Not a fan but he deserves the spot and I can him having an interesting moveset and an epic stage. 7/10

Ryu Hayabusa: Don't know him but he looks cool. 6/10

Steve: I'm extremely neutral about this Guy. 5/10

Sora: He'd have an amazing moveset but he's just be another anime protagonist. 6/10

Crash Bandicoot: Very neutral on him but he'd ****ing hilarious. 6,5/10

Artorias: don't know him but he looks really really awesome. 7,5/10

Banjo and Kazooie: Extremely uninteresting character. I used to be neutral on him but the nostalgists have been shouting at me that he deserves to be in so loudly and agressively that I started to genuinly dislike him. 3/10

Baboom: We don't even know what he'd look like but I always welcome new Grass types and Grookey looks cute. However, this would mean Sobbles evolution is out. 5/10

Phoenix Wright: what can I say? 9/10

Edelgard: Fire Emblem deserves to be repped with anything besides boring sword users, but putting in a secundary protag kinda wrong to me. 6/10

Sylux: He's an epic character and Metroid has been REALLY underrepresented up until now. 8,5/10

I’ll probably buy any fighter pack, be it 3rd party or 1st. Heck I’ll buy characters I don’t even like, stage might be fun and I like to complete the roster.

While I would agree on this to some extent, it is imperative to remember Nintendo is in charge of DLC this time around, so that isn't a major factor going into DLC development as it was before.

Which is also another pretty valid reason why people expect a Three Houses/Sword and Shield rep because "it's marketing!"

I'd have to see a character before casting judgment, but I'd say it's nearly impossible to not at least appreciate that Fighter Pass guarantees we are getting more than just a character (even FE is a series I think most can agree desperately needs more stages).

Disregarding leaks entirely, official material for Edelgard shows that she has an affinity for axes, magic, and authority, so there are a lot of cool things they could do with her. Gambit formations through the authority skill are incredibly interesting when it comes to gameplay potential.

I'm thinking the same way, just give me a character that is fun and with lots of love put into it, and I won't care too much if it's from a series I don't care much, or if I didn't care about the characters before.
