These topics almost never stay civil, which is probably why the staff made the decision to lock it down to one part of the site. I honestly don't see what the issue is with the mods (politely, if I may add) asking you keep the thread agenda free to keep things civil.

I'm with Will Will : I support the decision.

It'a a Social thread.

It isn't "about" anything. Very Seinfeld, it is. Nothing should be excluded on the basis of it being somehow off-topic as there's no topic to be off of.

Yeah, "as the creators of SB" was a bad way to put it.

As the guys who run the site, we have policies we created to help keep issues in check. Again, I will not argue if we did a good job. That's absolutely debatable as proven with issues beforehand.

Either way, I've said my piece and I can't really think of any good way to respond anymore. I'm right now home sick instead of at work, so I'm having a lot of trouble being able to come up with better responses right now. I apologize for the vastly poor wording in many cases. Sorry about that.

The staff asked that you just don't make a scene here and that if you want to get into an in-depth discussion to take it elsewhere. Doesn't even need to be debate hall: could be DMs are Discord. Just not this specific thread.

I've changed my ways about that over the months. I never really got to apologize, and the mods have talked to me about it previously.

So sorry :drshrug: those were uninformed decisions I made back then. If my ass isn't worth forgiveness then so be it

I will say, checking the thread throughout my day and seeing a large amount of...no context, well “nonsense” ****posts doesn’t really give this thread a designated function. It gets annoying, actually.

Like yes, it’s a social thread. But there are a few reasons I can list (but won’t at the moment) that can turn people away or prevent them from posting.

If I were still a mod, there are quite a few posts I would warn as Spam, in my honest opinion.

In addition, as i’ve said before oppressed people basically live a political life, and it’s not necessarily fair that they have to keep it quiet because it isn’t deemed “appropriate”. It’s their life we’re talking about after all. However, because the discussion can get toxic I can see why it would be more or less discouraged by the mods. I’m not sure what the right answer is with that.

Really it depends on the context.
