What if we said the largest Smash for Wii U tournament that Japan has ever hosted is this weekend? What if we also said the
top 3 players from this event automatically qualify for the
Nintendo-sponsored niconico Championship in January of 2016? The stakes are sure to be high at this special Umebura tournament taking place this weekend!
With a record breaking number of 320 competitors it is no surprise the talent for the event is also coming at a massive scale! With Genesis 3 having 22 Japanese players registered, this may be one of the best opportunities to see the best of what the country has to offer before the event. Here are some of the players to keep an eye on while watching!
Hayato. 
Has wins over Rain and 9B. Possibly the best Toon Link in the world.

Pichi 
Won a tournament at
Waseda University over Umeki & Nietono. One of several strong Japanese Falcon players.
Choco 
Finished 3rd at Umebura F.A.T. Frequently ranked among Japan's best.
Komorikiri 
Arguably the best Sonic. He finished 2nd at Umebura F.A.T.,
KUSF, and KSB
Daiki 

One of Japan's top MM players.
Umeki 
Top Peach who beat Rain at Umebura F.A.T.
Brood 
Top Duck Hunt, though he plays more Splatoon now.
Ranai 
Japan's best and most consistent player. Only placed outside of top 8 at Umebura F.A.T.
Salena/Sarena 
A Skilled Meta Knight player although hasn't placed high since Umebura 16.
Shu 
High-level Sheik. Finished 2nd at Umebura 19 beating Rain.
Nietono 



Japan's jack-of-all-trades who often sandbags.
Rain 
The former best player who has somewhat fallen off. Got Top 8 at KUSF.
Songun 
A Strong Game and Watch player who has been DQ'd from recent events for being late.
Shogun 
Strong Diddy-turned-Fox main. Attended APEX 2014 for Brawl.
Earth 
Best Pit in the world with recent victories over Rain and 9B. Tends to finish 9th.
9B 
The legendary Brawl Ice Climbers player! He broke out with Ryu at Umebura F.A.T. but has finished disappointingly low since.
Kirihara 
Japan's best Rosalina. Finished 4th at Umebura F.A.T.
Some 
One of the best Greninja ains in the world. Got Top 16 at Umebura F.A.T. and Top 6 at Umebura 19.
