Hello everyone!
My tag is FistMagic - I played smash in 2003 for a year or so with my younger brother and friends, but after a decade+ long hiatus I picked it back up reluctantly with my group of friends in the summer of 2015. They told me all about fancy things like "wavedashing" and "L-Cancelling" and all the like, it was really intimidating for somebody who just got Sm4sh on his 3ds.
I cannot begin to express how much I love Melee now. The skill, the mind games, the fact that it's the closest thing to kung-fu that I've ever learned - the list can go on and on.
After going to my first weekly 8 months later close to my home town, I ended up not sucking. I lost more than I won, but I still won a fair bit against people who had been playing far longer than I had, and I learned a lot. It really made me fall in love with the scene this game has. I feel I've come a long way for someone who didn't have their own set up to practice on.
Now, I have my set up, I practice, and my tech skill gets better every day.
I live in Vancouver which has a scene, but I really want to meet people who live closer to the Fraser Valley area who play regularly. I really want to host and TO my own events in the area so I'm really here to network, make friends, learn a lot, and get my ass kicked.
