I decided to start Batman Arkham Asylum (the PS4 remaster) to refresh my memory on what the game was like. One thing led to another, and I wound up beating it 100% (aside from the challenges). Man, that game is addicting.

I have no way to play Dual Destinies 😭😭😭 but I love Ace Attorney

I'm trying to get into Wolfenstein. Been using DOS emulators in browser, treating the classics like Dinner and the games I bought in the steam summer sale as dessert. Bought Payday 1 & 2 and Mighty Fight Federation (It has ToeJam & Earl and YookaLaylee)
Update: I was no good at Wolfenstein, so I watched someone else beat it on YouTube. Still haven’t got to the games I bought. I’m playing another DOS game with no walkthroughs made on it. I can’t find any help on how to get through this game. It’s called Blupimania. I really want to see all the levels. It has an autonomous character you guide through levels.

I finally got around to playing Borderlands. It’s pretty fun and I feel like it’s the kinda game you play while watching something else which I like because there are a ton of hour long videos I want to watch

What's your plan going forward? I'm watching let's plays to catch up. Played a couple of the 3ds ones but I don't have my 3ds anymore. I started on Trilogy like you.

I'm playing Saints Row Reboot and I kinda started Super Mario RPG. Haven't been motivated to play it.

I've been playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection, since I've never played Halo 1 before. I'm currently on the level 343 Guilty Spark; I think that's about halfway through.

I've heard horror stories about a level called "The Library", but some areas that I've been in have large blue arrows on the floor to give you an indication of where to go; I'm not sure if those were added in the remastered version, but if they were, I'm guessing they're there to make it easier to navigate through the maps, so I'm hoping they'll be in the Library level.

I've also started getting back into a little-known game called Minecraft; I haven't played it much (I only have a vague idea of what redstone does, or what enchanting is, and I've barely left the area that I started out in), but I've got a small army of wolves, so that's fun.

Honestly the only thing with the library is that it drags on and the same area is repeated a bunch of times. It’s not that bad if you enjoy fighting the Flood though.

Those arrows were added for the Anniversary edition. You can check for yourself by switching which version you're playing with the tap of a button.

Am currently working on Fire Emblem Warriors. I beat the main story and am now on History Mode. I can see the appeal of the series now, but man does it seem daunting with how much grinding needs to be done.

I'll probably call it quits once I unlock each hidden character. If unlocking all of Anna's Momentos will only take a few hours after that, I might go for that as well.

This will definitely be the FE game that I play for this year. Engage & Warriors TH will have to wait for 2024. I made sure to get all of the DLC for the 3DS version before the shop shut down, even though I will probably never use it. lol

Pretty much had the same thoughts & approach to History mode. Hope you look forward & enjoy 3 Hopes when you get around to it, both nintendo warriors sequels did a much greater job of mixing series elements with warriors imo. Idk, i really enjoyed it & wish it saw a little more success.

As for what im playing now i normally play a few games at a time but wanted to particularly bring up Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Does such a good job of recapturing that JSR experience after such a long time.

Just finished an indie platformer called Pseudoregalia. Basically a 3D metroidvania all about movement upgrades. Pretty good and only 6 bucks. Only gripe is that there's no map.

Currently playing a survival horror game called Signalis as well as playing Baldur's Gate 3 with some friends. Potentially my personal GOTY.

I started playing F-Zero X recently. I also like F-Zero GX, but wanted to start with X first. Probably my favorite racing series. My favorite machines are Blue Falcon and Sonic Phantom.

I’ve been playing through all the Treasure games since I haven’t really played through any of them in-depth yet beyond the first few stages. I’m gonna just do the Genesis games for now and maybe more later. So far I’ve played Gunstar Heroes and McDonald’s Treasure Land Adventure and so I’ll play Dynamite Headdy next.

Gunstar Heroes is exactly as good as everyone says it is. It’s very chaotic and is pretty over stimulating at times considering the volume of enemies but it’s fun and I appreciated that while it is brutally difficult it doesn’t do the thing other run and gun games tend to do with limited continues and only one to three hits being enough to kill you because that can easily get frustrating at times. The fact that you can slide and dive to damage enemies is probably my favorite aspect of the game.

McDonald’s Treasure Land Adventure doesn’t necessarily 100% escape the trappings of being a licensed kids platformer so it can kinda feel overly simple at times (though this may be because I played on the default beginner setting). That said, it feels like the game is aware of this and so it introduces a lot of mechanics or level elements in the four long stages to make gameplay constantly being shifted up and so fun feels prioritized over challenge which is respectable enough. The game doesn’t feature any McDonald’s products like burgers or fries so it doesn’t feel like you’re being advertised to which I can also respect.

I just beat Halo 3 through the Master Chief Collection on Steam - I haven't played it since 2009, so while I remembered some things (mostly the last three levels), I had completely forgotten large chunks of the middle of the game.

I've also been playing a bit of Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube. Generally, I was quick to refill my Sanity meter when it dropped once I got the ability to recover it with magic, but for my third playthrough, I think I'm only going to refill it when I absolutely have to in order to see as many of the game's insanity effects as I can.

I played through Kingdom Hearts 3D on 3DS not to long ago and really enjoyed it this time, unlike back when it came out. Not sure why I disliked it so much back then but I'm glad that I gave it another shot. It also made me watch Tron for the first time yesterday (good movie btw).

I'm now on Nier Automata. First playthrough is already done. Looking forward to that third playthrough everybody is talking about.

Replayed the first Metal Gear Solid. Really enjoyed it a lot more than the first time I played it. I had just played MGS2 when I played it the first time so I kind of had expectations going into it which is why I didn’t like it as much then but now I almost think the stealth is done better than MGS2 and 3. The lack of first person view means you need to have more spatial awareness and cant really rely on just dashing to the end of an area once you’re spotted like 2. I am going to reply the other two MGS games on legacy collection before I make any definitive statements though.

there’s also the annoying backtracking in this game lmao

I've played Dragon's Dogma for several hours now and have very mixed feeling about it. On the plus side, the game can be incredibly fun in an open world, Dungeons and Dragons sort of way. But on the other hand, much of the systems in the game are incredibly poorly thought out. It was originally a PS3 game but these issues seem more like what you'd run into in an N64 game. The menus are terrible; why is there a separate menu for equipment and equipment in the inventory? You literally have to move inventory equipment to the equipment menu to equip it. There's no dodge button for the Dark Souls 1 like combat so if you don't have a shield you have to awkwardly move out of the way while battling a poorly thought out stamina system. The crafting system is also bad and really clashes with the over encumbrance system. You want to carry materials to craft but can carry so little weight. You have a party in combat but there's no fleeing option so your idiot companions keep fighting when you're running away and if they die you must run back and resurrect them or lose them. A lot of the game's a hot mess. Frankly FFXII (a PS2 game) did the whole party thing and everything DD does much better.

On the Switch, I've been playing through Persona 5 Royal - I played through Persona 5 (the base game) on the PS3, so I'm interested to see how things change for the Royal version. (I just finished the first palace)

On Steam, I've been playing Alan Wake. I think I'm about halfway through the game (I'm nearing the Anderson farm - I'm not sure if this is the point where there's a rock concert or not) I doubt anything will get as ridiculous as this bit from the sequel:

...but I'm enjoying the game so far, even if I feel like trying to find the collectibles that I miss in my first playthrough (manuscript pages won't be too bad, but coffee thermoses, hidden chests, radio shows, and TV shows don't have any indication of which specific ones you're missing) is going to be frustrating.

I'm playing Half-Life 2 after a hiatus of over a decade. (the hovercraft controls were really slippery, but I came back to the game and persisted through that segment)

I managed to make it through Ravenholm while only using the Gravity Gun (since there's an achievement tied to that - it was fun to see what would or wouldn't work as a projectile to hurt the zombies or headcrabs), and I'm currently in a driving segment. (I just got the rocket launcher) Navigation can be a little annoying at times, but I'm enjoying it more now, and hopefully I'll beat it in the next week or so.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey. It's good. It does a good job fitting the open world mold yet distinguishes itself enough from other games in the genre. There is a ton of content.

Also, I'm into casino games and play them pretty often. But I'm not that experienced yet, so it may not be that easy to find a good site. A friend of mine recommended I read about yabby casino no deposit bonus, and I decided to try to play there to see whether I'll like it. And you know, I got great bonuses, and I've already found a few games which are interesting to me.
And how was Persona 5? A few of my friends played it. and they gave me mixed reviews.
I'm thinking about getting it, but have some doubts

And a few days ago i started Assassin's Creed Odyssey - really like it

I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey; it's really good. One thing I recommend is sticking with the main quests. No spoilers: I'm just doing some of the main objectives and the game goes on forever. There is a ton of side content and if you try to do it all you'll get burnt out before ever finishing the game.

I've been playing Fire Emblem Warriors recently. Already completed the main game and now attempting to clear the history mode.

Overall, I quite liked it even though I felt it could had done with a couple more Fire Emblem characters from the likes of Path or Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Sacred Stones, Binding Blade etc.

I've been playing the 2015 Mad Max game. It's technically impossible to complete now, at least in the sense of getting every achievement (one achievement requires something from an online feature that was disconnected in 2020, which is incredibly dumb since it's a single player game), but I'm enjoying it so far. The gameplay reminds me of the Arkham games at times (though with significantly less gadgets - it's mainly the melee combat where they're similar), they manage to make the desert setting feel varied and even gorgeous at times, and the car customization and base building mechanics do a good job with encouraging me to explore.

Wrapped up my playthroughs of the NES Final Fantasy games so here are my thoughts.
So before I start, the versions of FF1 and FF2 were the Dawn of Souls editions on GBA and FF3 was the DS Remake. There’s a lot of mechanics in the Dawn of Souls remakes that weren’t added to the DS remake like the ability to save anywhere or purchase phoenix downs. It made Dawn of Souls much more enjoyable to me so my thoughts on each game can’t be 100% accurate to the core experience.

1
The first Final Fantasy is probably my favorite because of its simplicity. The classes you pick at the beginning of the game can’t really be swapped and I kinda like that there’s a lot of permanence right at the beginning. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a more simple experience in an RPG, even if you’re basically screwed if you don’t pick a healer. The game is fairly easy and it’s a pretty fun difficulty curve which I was surprised by. If you do play it though, definitely consult a map in each dungeon, I think it makes them a lot better and even if you’re doing it there’s still a lot of risks to be taken in figuring out what treasure chests to open or not and where to actually go.

The story is basically non-existent and you kinda just go between set pieces and villages to get the crystals or do whatever you need to do. I like that they kinda just throw a lot of high fantasy stuff at you at every point, you go to like a dwarf city and a gnome city and an elf city. It gives me a wizard of oz type vibe where you’re constantly going to silly places and it’s 100% accepted in the narrative. Not as ridiculous of course though but I still have a big soft spot for it. God I need to play Stranger of Paradise. I also really liked the concept of the ending and it feels very powerful. It’s kinda just told in a big paragraph though so I wished it was more fleshed out.

Overall I’d say the main thing Final Fantasy has over something like the first Dragon Quest is that it’s got fairly good difficulty balancing and is just really fun. There’s definitely some grinding but not as much as you might expect. I like it a lot and reccomend it but only if you’re familiar with the Final Fantasy mechanics or have beaten a few RPG’s before.

2
Final Fantasy II is the infamous one, mostly because of its levelling system. You level up your attack by dealing damage, and your health by taking damage. I don’t mind it too much even if it’s less intuitive, it’s not too hard to get used to the idea of attacking making you stronger (even if you need to punch yourself to grind sometimes). The real problem is in the magic because you need to use each spell a lot and level them up individually which is confusing, and makes it not fun at all to get new spells in the late game because they’re going to be useless. You alsoincrease your MP by using spells with low MP and… obviously I don’t do that very often so it’s very hard go get more MP. Attacking in general feels very inconsistent because enemies seem to have very high agility and they’ll dodge any attacks very frequently. Really it’s one of my least favorite turn based RPG combat systems.

Despite that, I’m actually pretty glad that the combat can be very broken in some other ways. There’s some really stupid stuff in here. For example, there’s a spell called swap which swaps your health and MP with an opponent and one that has a chance of teleporting enemies away (a fairly high chance mind you). These did work on some bosses for me. These are absolutely fun to use because of how wacky they are and alleviate the experience slightly.

This was the first Final Fantasy with a more in-depth story and premade characters who aren’t just jobs. Of course it’s the classic story of an evil empire, actually a lot of story elements here would be re-used in Final Fantasy IV. Story’s alright but it’s clunky and often times you’ll not be able to progress because you haven’t talked to the right NPC or asked the right specific thing. There’s also tons of backtracking since you’ll need to go back to the main rebel hideout a lot and the layout of the world makes it a chore to do so.

There’s some stuff I like in the game, once you get used to it it’s possible to have fun with it but yeah not the best game.

3
Final Fantasy III goes back to having no premade characters (well the DS version changed that but whatever) but this time the jobs are switchable, and that’s really the basis of combat here, I’ve got mixed feelings towards it to be honest. There are a ton of options and I find them fun, you even get some more as you progress which makes you more motivated to progress. Some jobs are effectively upgrades of others too which also motivates you to actually change them, and there’s lots of challenges that basically force you to change jobs sometimes. Eventually that gets frustrating and it feels like it removes a lot of agency from the player though, and some jobs eventually don’t feel very viable at all. At least they’re designs are all adorable, that’s good.

Besides that, dungeons go on WAY too long compared to the other games, especially the final dungeon where they get stupid and make you fight four bosses with 99,999 health before the real final boss. There’s a huge difficulty spike too at the end where your recommended level jumps from 30 up to about 42 and you kinda just have to grind all of that which is absolutely horrible balancing. Not even FF2 had something like this, jesus christ. I got the game used and there was a save file that had everyone to level 99 so I switched to that right before the final boss because there’s no way I’m risking going through all of the final dungeon again, complete with a ten minute unskippable cutscene right before the final boss.

The story’s also more in-depth than the first Final Fantasy but is essentially an upgraded version of it. There’s less of that sense of whimsy as you go to a bunch of different weird settings (although the dwarf city is still there!) which can make e setting feel more grounded so it’s honestly up to personal interpretation which you prefer more, I think the two different approaches work for their own games personally.

So my ranking is probably 1>3>2 but then again, not really 100% consistent. I’m excited to move onto the SNES trilogy because then this little project of mine changes from discovering the origins of the series to playing some actual classics. And Mystic Quest. I want to play it because I’m curious and there’s clearly not enough garbage in the SNES games if I don’t.

Resident Evil 4 and 5 are $2 each on the Xbox 360 due to the impending closure of the digital store, so I picked them up. It's been a while since I played both games, but the memories definitely stuck with me.

I'm focusing on RE4 for now; I just finished the boss fight against the lake monster. (Leon has his jacket for a much shorter time than I realized - only the first forty-five minutes or so) I definitely prefer the aiming of the Wii version, and the movement is a bit more sluggish than I remember it being, but I'm enjoying my replay of the game. (plus, the achievements seem reasonable for the most part - it's a single player game, so I don't need to worry about online achievements, and it seems like I'll get most of them naturally throughout the story, aside from beating the game on the highest difficulty and getting all of the bottlecaps)

I'm moving on to the Elden Ring DLC but first I have to get to it. I've been playing Assassin's Creed and Spiderman 2, which are both mash heavy games, so it's going to be weird to adjust to a game where attacks are slow and methodical requiring stamina management.

I was going to replay Chrono Trigger but then my laptop broke so I switched to replaying the NES Mega Man games on an emulator on my phone, and I just finished the first one.

For games that are considered some of the quintessential 80s experiences, Mega Man is surprisingly unlike anything of the era. There’s almost an assumption you will get hit a lot because health is so plentiful which allows the platforming aspect of an action platformer to take focus and you get the best of both worlds. The “action” aspects are very fun and switching abilities is genuinely very engaging because it allows you to deal with challenges in different ways. You’re missing out a lot if you don’t use powers in levels and save them for the boss like a lot of people seem to do. Speaking of which, the robot masters are easily the highlight even the quality of their boss fights can vary a little. I disagree with the notion that it took Mega Man 2 for the gameplay to hit its stride because the format is done so well here.

The main issues are the significant drop in quality once you reach Wily Fortress and that the final boss was underwhelming, relying on robot master rematches a little too much. The game is of course very brutal and unfair at times but I’d say it’s more forgiving than I originally remembered and I managed to beat it all in two days without restore points so it’s not too BS for me. I played it lots before though so that might be why. Oh, also that platform power up. The fact you might need to backtrack to get that was pretty frustrating and I’m glad that didnt happen in games that followed it.

Overall, I’d very much forgotten how good these games were and I’ve kind of fallen off the Mega Man series lately so it’ll be fun to play Mega Man 2. I haven’t played it as much as the original Mega Man since I usually want to replay the whole series in a marathon but stop after the first game.
