Darn it, I didn't think I'd have to do one of these threads (post-E3 2013 era); aside from Rosalina, I've enjoyed the presence of all of the newcomers.. XD
Wow...um, so okay, this is the first time I'm participating in one of these threads.. XD (Thank goodness I only have to do one of them; Chrom scared me for a bit). But yeah, I WAS WRONG.
On the plus side, Lucina is pretty and all, she had a very nice Super Smash Bros. 4 trailer voice actress, and I liked how she was depicted with resolve as she (hopelessly?) charged towards the mighty Captain Falcon...
But anyways, I didn't think that Lucina was going to be playable; the best I was hoping for her was a Marth alternate costume ("Masked Marth", being Marth wearing Lucina's Mask). In terms of Fire Emblem representation, I more-or-less expected "Marth, Chrom" or "Marth, Ike, Chrom", while I wanted "Marth, Ike, Robin the Tactician, maybe Roy if he can be retooled). If Marth was going to have a Fire Emblem clone, I figured it would be Chrom (I was hoping for at least a non-clone Lucina if she were present, and even that hope has gotten seemingly dashed).
I would've been content with Lucina as a Trophy only (and I would've settled with Lucina with a non-clone moveset that attempts diversity), but her implementation just irks me. Not only is she "Roy 2.0" at this point (as in, Marth's moveset with minor differences in various attributes. No offense, Roy!), a cloned moveset which we just got done getting rid of in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but she's apparently what Marth should have been in Super Smash Bros. 4 (speedy and whatnot), and she's (yet) a(-nother) blue-haired swordfighter (it was bad enough having her being a "figurative" copy of Marth, but literally using Marth's moves is a bit much. Not to mention the myriad of different weapons/weapon-users that the Fire Emblem series touts in its arsenal.). If we're going to have a Marth clone again, we might as well bring back Roy, give Lucina's current "speedy" moveset to Marth, and give Marth's current "slow/floatly" moveset to Roy, instead of making Marth suck just so Lucina can be in the game. >_> Alternatively, we could've dedicated the resources spent on Lucina to other non-clone characters, but that's another discussion..
Nevertheless, since Robin is in, I can't get too mad at Lucina. I figured Fire Emblem would get 3 playable representatives, but a fourth is astonishing.. Her trailer portrayal was great, in any case. Congrats, Lucina (here's hoping that Custom Moves help to diversify her more from Marth, even if a little)! At least your dad gets to show up in some capacity, too!

Finally, even though I'm not a fervent Lucina supporter, I have to say that I really admire this animation in Reginleif's current signature. :3

(I assume you mean two new reps for the Donkey Kong franchise, since it already has 2..?) But anyways, I haven't thought of it like that; aside from Lucina's annoying clone status, her presence provides a nice glimmer of hope. I'll be quite surprised if the DK franchise doesn't gain at least one more playable representative (primarily, King K. Rool).Frankly, this excites me. Even though she's a clone, it proves we WILL get two new reps for franchises in this game, which really helps another franchise: the DK franchise, which is extremely deserving of two reps.
