What's your favorite thing about Melee?

I just started picking up low tier characters such as Pichu and it's amazingly fun. Why do I have more fun using the worst characters in Melee than the best in Brawl?

The way that you can attack, and suddenly you see possibilities for a follow-up attack, and then another, and then another. It's a really cool sensation to just string together combos out of pure impulse and see your opponent's damage jump more than 50%.

Jigglypuff owns in Melee, period.
DK may be better overall in Brawl but watching the expression on your opponent's face when you pick their character up, u-air them to 70%, and finish with a crushing Donkey Pawnch, taking a stock off before they can blink, is just priceless.

My favorite thing about melee is the freedom to inovate with your combos, and the ability to actually effect how your opponent has to hit you (DI). The overall level of skill and challenge!

bottomless depth
Falco
Pichu, because it's fun to play as a character who's hopelessly weak sometimes

Favorite things are its depth, how fast paced it is, travelling and meeting new ppl, you need to practice to get good, and how big the skill level gaps are, so you need to work hard to get good.

The playing against people way more skilled and talented than you are is one of the things I love about melee

but then you say stupid things and people realize you're an idiot

The pace and the room for improvement. In adventure and racing games, there is a point where it is hard to get any better. But there is always roome for improvement in melee.

I find Melee graphics far more beautiful to look at. Brawl's graphics just make me want to vomit.
