That alot of time you put in, The Great Leon. I only practice 2 hours the most with Jkun, Kira and Psychomidget. My Sheik and Fox will get to Jkun's level soon! With Kira's help, everything is possible! It's just within reach. All you have to do is look, reach and take it with your own bloody hands!

Just a couple more exclamation points and you could've been at Atlus's level.

Hellz yeah! When I first found out about the advance techniques I played for hours on end! Whoo wee!

Edit - When I try to get better, I focus like a mohterf***er! (sigh) I miss being motivated . . .
what does it take for you, specifically, to get motivated?

play on your own

honestly i feel like playing too much smash with other people does not help you get better in the long run. it just reinforces your bad habits, unless you're very mindful when you're playing. and even then you still need breaks. practicing by yourself to set you up for playing others is the best. and then 2-3 week breaks to top it off.

to answer your question, i am always trying to get better, although i try more at certain times than others

it's fun when you are challenged, and right now since i'm trying to main fox, i'm very challenged. so i'm practicing certain tech skill every day. this week: laser control =D

So to improve, is it better to just get better at the matchups you suck at with your main and ignore secondaries, or learn a secondary to cover those matchups? After losing a million games of Marth vs Peach to Paul, I do not see how Marth has 7-3 vs Peach (can expand on this if asked I guess). I'm thinking of picking up Sheik to cover some of the matchups I'm bad at (Falcon, Peach), but I'd like to hear some input from people better than me.

Peach vs Marth is a really stupid match up but I'm too lazy to explain.

I was originally going to learn falco to take care of shieks exclusively

but learning to fight bad matchups with your main is very rewarding in the end, no matter how frustrating it may be (except maybe IC's vs Peach if you are not a top tier IC)

Can't really answer your question with a "yes," but I'm really trying to step my game up for Pats House.

I play about 15 minutes every other day or so to keep my tech skill fresh. I don't play much friendlies at all (I feel like playing too much friendlies hurts more than it helps). When I do play friendlies (regardless if the people I play against are good or bad), I don't sandbag and am very mindful of what I do. Though I try not to play too much friendlies either so I can can keep both my tech skill and my mindset fresh.

I feel this is the best way to keep my game consistent.

Oh and I watch a lot of Vidjos matches on my free time.

i think its better to stick with one character for a long time
this

also, you must realize that there really are no bad matchups. if you use one of the good characters (peach/ics/jiggly/falcon on up) it's really all in your head. almost every matchup comes down to working for your one opening and making the most of it. space, react, punish. unless you're really really good and playing the matchup optimally, you have no right to complain.

- Dash attack beats all of Marth's sh aerials (because they don't come out in time, not because of priority)
- Turnips make approaching an utter pain (don't tell me to just nair/counter through them, that does all of 10% and doesn't lead to combos because Peach can just CC it. If you messed up your spacing you're eating a dsmash). Yes, you can camp Peach after a lead because she's slow, but it's harder to camp without a projectile to improve your lead, since running around on platforms will inevitably get you hit by a turnip since nobody is perfect. I guess you could swat turnips away with jab and ftilt, but it's really hard to be that patient for 7 minutes.
- Grabs aren't game-breaking in this matchup since after 50-60% none of your throws lead into a guranteed anything. Dash attack, dtilt, fsmash, fair, whatever all miss when they DI away.
- Grabbing Peach is kind of difficult too; it's great if you can get a grab early because it'll probably build anywhere from 30-60% without too much trouble. However, you can't shieldgrab off any of Peach's aerials because fc aerial -> jab jab beats it. Spacing of the aerial doesn't matter (at least I don't think it does). I should probably just stop trying to shieldgrab altogether though. Even with a grab though, you can't land Peach on a platform for an easy tipper setup.
- Peach is incredibly annoying to kill as Marth, mainly because it's so hard to setup a tipper and edgeguarding her is just as hard. The best way to kill Peach is through a dair, but getting those opportunities is hard now that people DI away from fair. Tippers won't kill until 80-90% for sure. They can kill at 60-70 if you're near the edge and they don't predict the tipper, but in general, 80-90. If they get past this amount, killing peach becomes increasingly difficult. Tipper utilt kills at 100-110ish, but untipped doesn't kill until 130-140. Bair, nair, fair won't kill until 150%+, uair might kill earlier if you're lucky. This is way, way, waaaaay too high for Peach to live.
- Dash dance camping Peach doesn't actually accomplish anything. If she has a turnip, you can't even do it. If she doesn't, the game devolves into a "let's both dash dance around for a while until somebody decides to make a dumb approach."
- A new-ish thing I learned today that I didn't really get to test much of- If peach lowfloats, dtilt misses completely. Since dtilt is one of Marth's best spacing tools and leads into grabs and other things, this threw me off completely and made me completely unsure of how to approach. Ericson ***** me today in tourney using this.

Tl;dr: Theory Marth vs Peach is not the same as actual Marth vs Peach.

With all this said, I still think Marth has an advantage in the matchup. 7/3 or 65/35 is too generous though. It just feels that Marth has to work a whole lot harder than Peach in the matchup.

probably on a platform
main problem is you are playing paul, i'll tell you what i know after work, but to kill peach side b> uptilt works wonders, that's one of my favorite parts of the match up, i know i won't die until i get to a really high percent unless i screw up

lol you have to stay on the ground in the matchup anyway, dash attack is just punishing you for bad fundamentals

- Turnips make approaching an utter pain
once again, bad fundamentals -- marth has to always be in tipper fsmash / dash attack range. you can't give peach space.

If you messed up your spacing you're eating a dsmash).
LOL, wow, what a big deal! a dsmash is one hit and you can't combo out of it. that's a big reason marth beats peach -- he lives longer than her! peach can't kill him

Yes, you can camp Peach
you're doing it wrong

- Grabs aren't game-breaking in this matchup since after 50-60% none of your throws lead into a guranteed anything.
watch cactuar v cort and tell me grabs aren't game breaking. watch m2k v cort and tell me grabs aren't game-breaking. and even if you can't get a fsmash, you can tech chase peach so easily.

However, you can't shieldgrab off any of Peach's aerials
or any character in the game...

- Peach is incredibly annoying to kill as Marth
forward b utilt. and marth should always be living longer than peach anyway. marth builds damage faster and has more reliable kill moves. what more do you want?!

- Dash dance camping
you sound like you're whining because you're playing a peach who outcamps you. protip: STOP CAMPING.

If peach lowfloats
ftilt all day

if you want me to be honest, chances are you just suck / are playing the matchup very poorly

I'm working at my Falcon. I can't play with SFAT and PewPewU though, because no one wants to catch my Piggy Flu. If P wants to fill me in on tips for different matchups, it'd be much appreciated.

This is what I mostly stick to.

Falcon v Falco - (Be patient, don't spam shieldgrab, Dair out of shield is good until it becomes predictable, Tech chase until 60% and then Knee.)

Falcon v Sheik - (Dash dance and force them to approach, avoid tilts, Up-Throw Nair at lower percents, Up-Throw Knee works at about 90% but only when I catch them off gaurd. Read their DI and throw out an occasional Raptor Boost.)

Keep in mind that I'm not awful, I'm just open to any good advice I can get.
