Who is the culprit: Me, mindgames, or items?

I just earned a losing streak with Wario, my best character. I'm not a pro, but I think I'm at least worthy of a second glance in a room full of pros. I don't know any of the technical stuff but I am familiar with his moveset and I think I'm able to read my opponents fairly well. I can also kinda work the spacing in my favor, but not by much. Anyway, I was playing against someone who was pretty much using all the characters. I think his name on smashboards is "AznHalfCaucasian" or something like that. At first we were evenly matched, but when he started beating me with Wario(and just about every other character) I started getting angry. Did I lose so much that I got angry enough to telegraph my moves completely, did items do this(yes, they were on, and the one time I got Wario-Man, he hid on the ledge and ran around the screen as C. Falcon) or am I just not as good as I think?

STEP YO GAME UP
all of the above.
Items messed you up, probably. The more emotions cloud your mind, the less clearly you think, so you were probably telegraphing moves or simply using poor ones without judgment. Additionally, no one who didn't import is that good at the game yet, especially if you don't know all Wario's tricks. It's a plus to know the moveset, it's farther than a lot of people go, but the knowledge doesn't end there.

There will always be someone better. Just because he beat you doesn't mean you suck. Adversely, just because you've beaten Random People #241 and #456 doesn't mean you're "the ****" either.

Either way, why do you care? You lost against this one person, yes, and? Maybe this one player was just better than you. Move on, continue to play and try to improve.

I wouldn't even care unless I was getting 4- or 3-stocked by the majority of people I played. There will always be better people who'll beat you (sometimes quite badly).

That's why I like capture cards, you can review what you messed up on later. :D

Don't take it too hard on yourself, game's been out for a little over a week. When you're playing, keep your cool, and try not to panic. You end up mindgaming yourself if you freak out, and your opponent will take advantage of that.

Also, don't be entirely offensive. Keep your distance, and strike when you see openings. Be careful about which openings you choose though, because they could be trying to set you up.

Watch some vids of people playing Wario, and take note of what causes them to die, and kill. Formulate your strategies based on those, then branch out and make your own play style. Mix and match until you get a good balance.

Lastly, use everything you're given. You can ukemi, or tech as it was called in Melee, to recover faster. You can grab from your shield. You can air dodge attacks. etc. etc.

Well when you're angry you're actually 15% (or was it 35%) less likely to make an intelligent decision. Basically 15% or 35% stupider than you normally are (not saying you're stupid.) Throw in the random value of items and you just bog down chances of a readable outcome. In a way its really mind games. Since getting a person angry is a mind game. But it may not have been intentional.

In the end as Yuna said, there will always be someone better than you. Being beaten by someone proves nothing really. You shouldn't stress over it too much since its not good for you. Instead, do what you're doing right now and asking yourself why did you lose? What could you have done better? How can you do that better. Its how people get better and its also one of the first things you have to start doing in order to become "pro"

That's the guy you WANT to play because that will be the rival that makes you go the extra mile.
