I think if anything we can expect is that each "Super Secret" such and such from both smashes came from a new franchise that wasn't apparent before. Ness was the only Earthbound character introduced. Game and Watch was the only (and granted, prob. the only one they could) introduce from his world. I think the last character will be from a world we haven't seen characters from like Balloon Fighter, etc.

How on earth would they make Balloon Fighter anyway? He flies. It's what he does. He would have unlimited recovery given that he's not KO'd to the limit of the side or top of the stage. Eeeeeevil.
Unless they just gave him five jumps like the other wingless flying types.

I would agree.. but it may even piss some people off.
Takamaru is kickass and I would love to see him as a last unlockable.. but on the other hand because he is Japanese only it just wouldn't seem right to allow him to be the last unlockable.
The only character that might get away with it is a Hanafuda themed character..

*sigh*. All I see are bad to mediocre suggestions. The most likely is sukapon. Unlike these suggestions, Sukapon is most likely to be the last "super-secret" unlockable. Sukapon was nintendo's first mascot appear in a fighting game. Its logical that the end of the game would aquire you to try to unlock nintendo's first ever brawler

Bad to mediocore suggestions? There are pretty good ones in here. Yeah Sukapon might be in but there are many other better choices.

My only complaint on Little Mac is that...he's a boxer. He punches things. I know that they made an entire moveset out of Balrog for Street Fighter...but that just seems a bit bland to me for them to have a character who does nothing but punch things in Smash.

After checking it out, I would have to say that this is a really good idea, comparing it to what they did in Melee. Of course, we have no idea if they want to make the final character wacky like G&W, but assuming they do...
God, look at him. All...no arms and legs. Creepy.

Because ppl might expect them now, once they get the game and play it for a while they will forget all about them.
Also, the way of unlocking the character would be either play 1500 vs. matches or play the game for 6 months (not in game hours- it would take the day you first got the game and then 6 months after that date it would say "guess what! For being such a dedicated character, you get to play as yourself!" something like that...
Because ppl might expect them now, once they get the game and play it for a while they will forget all about them.

As much as I would say ROB, I dunno if they can use him as those alien things use ROBs to activate the bomb, however, that means that they do have ROB models in the game which in turn could actually increase his chance of becoming a fighter. ROB has gotten really popular lately, with cameos in Star Fox Assault, Brawl (as already mentioned), Mario Kart DS (playable!), and more.
Besides ROB, I would say Geno would have a good chance. They will probably unveil him before the game comes out, but looking at Geno's cult status, and being a Nintendo character (I know hes partly owned by Square, but it's close enough), he would fit well as the big ending character.
Although I can see a bunch of other surprise characters coming, but they wouldn't fit as the big final. Someone like Knuckles, Raiden (especially if they wanna make a clone of another character), WaLuigi, Princess Rosetta, Boshi or the disco guy from Wario Ware (I forget his name).

Well, it's obvious that the chosen character would be one of two things: Either like, the most epic character you've ever played,...or something weak and silly, for laughs. (Though the work prob. necessary to get them would be in no way funny. ;/) Also, chances are, this would be a kind of "unrelated" character to the other characters. If it was a Pokemon, or a Mario, or Kirby character, that would show favoritism. It would have to be something very off the wall and to itself, like sukapon for example. Also, the Mii is probable, because that would be interactive. But my guess quite honestly would be...*sigh* Sonic or Megaman. It is such a cliched guess, but sadly, the most probable.

The Disco guy is Jimmy T. for future reference. Honestly I'd love him as the "Goldeen" of Assist Trophies if he's not playable, just pops out, throws up a disco ball, and starts groovin'! ...but anyway that's not really related.
I can see Geno working, but then the whole Mario connection, like previously stated, would cause "favouritism" between the franchises, even if it IS Mario. I'd actually say ROB is more likely. Like you stated he is modelled and most likely has some sort of a move set he uses in the sub-space emissary. He also seems like the "oddball" out of the subspace army, which only really makes him more unique. Lastly, he's retro, which seems fitting for the final random character. I'd really just love to see ROB make it

I can only see a few characters being the Omega Unlock (as I call it). Either Mr. Hype himself (Sonic), Mr. Controversy (Nook), Miss Controversy (Lip), and the original Nintendo fighter (Sukapon).

What about the Mii? the Mii is unrelated to the other characters..... It could also be shadow (after getting sonic) or colonel/protoman (after getting megaman).

The problem with trying to keep a 3rd party character a secret is this:
As soon as the customer looks at the back of the box, they are going to see "Sonic the Hedgehog and related characters are property of Sega. Blah blah blah."
Same goes for Geno and Megaman. Not much of a secret if you ask me.

I hope Miis aren't the last character. I mean...I don't mind if they're in the game, but I don't really see them as the character I see right before the, "You have unlocked all characters!" message comes up.
