probably, could just be an ego stroking thing thoughWait was he hired by Nintendo or something?
his grin was pretty great when he was listing his credentials. but if i were him id be cocky too.wow, Sirlin is full of himself.
Mmm, there are only 3 of the 10 parts of the tutorial and it's possible that terminology will still be covered in a separate section. Again, the terminology is a lot clearer at this point, which makes me happy.@Spellman
I think some of the Sirlin bashing is warranted. I mean, anyone remotely serious about smash knows about this site. And this is Sirlin we're talking about here. There is really no excuse for a guy like him - someone greatly educated about competitive fighting - to largely ignore an authority like Smashboards while trying to contribute to Smash Bros. It's kind of a blow to the face of this community for him to act like he is an authority while pretty much ignoring everything that goes on here.
He should at least be mentioning things like "Forward + A is often referred to as Fair", and the fact that he doesn't really implies that he knows little about Smash's competitive scene. If he does, he's not showing it. To most people, Sirlin just comes off as a guy who knows his competitive fighters, and thus thinks what knowledge he himself can come up with on Smash is somehow automatically relevant, with no need to reference the established community.
Yes, Sirlin knows his stuff. Yes, Sirlin is trying to do something positive for Smash. But he is still all but a stranger to the competitive scene.
The only reason I mention the competitive scene is because it's freaking Sirlin. Who the balls is gonna even care what he has to say if they don't already know who he is? I mean seriously? What ******* is gonna look up a Youtube video to learn how to play the game they just bought? I would seriously slap the hell out of you if you choose Youtube over the instruction manual.Mmm, there are only 3 of the 10 parts of the tutorial and it's possible that terminology will still be covered in a separate section. Again, the terminology is a lot clearer at this point, which makes me happy.
It's a training guide on how to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl and how to use attacks and defensive maneuvers most effectively, not "the competitive scene". He referenced how items and assist trophies affect the game in part 1.
Hexagon reflecty thingy.Didn't bother watching the vid.
