I know this is off topic but can anyone teach me how to make banners? I need a banner for my clan and I'm having a contest. I just would like to make one. Either that or is there a club or something?

Seeing as the general BIOS and protocol will be different, I'd very much doubt that a GCN freeloader will work for the Wii. I'm sure people will come up with their own version of a freeloader for it, though, so you shouldn't worry.

I think it means that it's different like how windows 95 is different to windows 98 or how windows 2000 is different to windows XP.

I think.

*sigh*Because McFox feels the Wii price isnt important enough for its own thread, i guess i'll just post it here. I still love you McFox....but not in a gay way.

May 25, 2006 - In an announcement earlier today, Nintendo released further information on the Wii launch. A final release date is still unknown, but a statement was made referring to the launch price point. The announcement stated that the system's price "would not exceed $250", though it didn't officially confirm $250 to be the final price.

So here's our question to you all: What price is mainstream?

Is $249.99 low enough, or does Nintendo need to hit the $199.99 to be tempting enough to capture even non-gamers into the market?

Would $249.99 be low enough for your cash? How about non-gamers you know?

This was taken from Ign. It's nice that they confirmed it. I defintely wouldnt mind paying at most $250. How about you?

$50 more to buy a 360? I'll think they'll be going for $200 again. Well, I HOPE they go for $200.
Well here's how is see it. If I go buy a system for $300, my girlfriend's gonna kill me. Now a $250 is a little easier to slip under the radar.

I think a $200 system will certainly attract more buyers, and I think if reports can be believed they can sell for even $150.

$250 is a really bad idea and it's pretty absurd to even fathom it. I mean, really, the most expensive Nintendo console ever with the smallest leap in technological ability? These things are probably going to be really easy to produce (consoles at least, dunno about the wiimote), so $250 isn't really justifiable. And like Cashed said, it's only 50 bucks more to a 360. And Nintendo definitely doesn't want consumers going down that train of thought.

I guess Nintendo might try to be like all the cool kids and go with two SKUs. $199 gets you a Wiimote+nunchuck, $250 gets you Wii sports and two wiimotes + 1 nunchuck. That's reasonable.

Also, I don't think $150 is a very good strategy either. It's not really that much more eyecatching than $199.99, and it might lead to a percieved inferiority of the Wii (yes Wii is graphically inferior...but shhh, it's a secret). Plus, it leaves less room for price cuts. $200 is the right price, like every Nintendo console ever.

I don't think they'll put the classic controller in there either. Nintendo says "**** off" to regular games.

If Nintendo really wanted to attact a plethora of people, they should make the price $150. I doubt this will happen though, sadly. Still, if the price is $200, I think most of the gaming market will be satisfied. $250? Iffy, in my opinion. Sure, it's cheaper than the Playstation and XBox 360, but still, a little high.

Well, N still nees to make some profit here. I bet they invested a lot of money in the wiimote alone. Imagine all the failed versions and prototypes that we dont know about. And then there's the cost of producing each unit, ect..

I see no problem with a $250 pricetag, it is reasonable enough, especially considering the prices of the competitors. I have no objection to saving to that amount, and this from someone who has little money to fling around.

The point is though, you could just save an extra $50 and grab a 360!

Which is why a $200 would be better.

I wondering how much a Wii-mote will cost... right now wave birds are still an arm and a leg. The corded controllers sell for 20, 30 bucks (US) still I believe. I wouldn't be horribly surprized with a 40-50 dollar price tg on the Wii-mote.

Wavebirds don't cost that much extra. Well here, anyway. Normal controllers cost $50 and wavebirds cost $65.

The funny thing is, the difference between prices of games in the US and Australia (they are usually about $99 here) doesn't even translate to the differences between our dollars anymore. The Wii will probably be about $400-500 here. Actually it's not very funny. :(

that makes me proud to be an american.

why is that though? Do they figure all the PAL countries are richer or something? Weird.

You still buy the stuff right? Maybe it's to cover shipping... and uh... kangaroo insurance.
That's really odd about the price differentials... Maybe they really believe PAL countries are willing to pay more or something? Because they get games and consoles debugged from the NTSC version?
